You could try PPC traffic as a small test and see if it's working out for you.

I agree with Louise, come up with a cool report that will have visitors handing over there email addresses to you because of the amazing value in it. I like o test the niche using yahoo and msn ppc before I move on to ppc through google.

I got my list off the ground with forum signatures, blog commenting and articles. I think I literally had 5 - 10 when I joined my first giveaway last year. Then once you have a few subscribers you can join a giveaway (just hope you get some clicks) otherwise you can get demoted.

Kinda highlights the importance of leverage ... a few subscribers to get to a giveaway ... lots of giveaways to get to a JV relationship ... etc etc etc

You can start building your first 500 list by article writing and submission, blog commenting, forums and optin box. I agree with a special report that you can give them in exchange for their email address.

You really have to provide unique content and VALUE.....come up with an eBook, get a neat graphic done up, and give it away for free (in return for an email addy) on your blog....

PPC traffic - squeeze page - OTO = $$$ plus subscribers

Then,

Promote more backened sales = More $$$'s

Yes, you need to have your own product or service to offer as OTO and remember it should be an irresistible offer... It's mostly a huge discount on your products or services or similar products that you own bundled into one and offered for a very very low price.

Got our first 800 subscribers by offering free WSOs with content that was actually useful. Thats was slightly over a year back.

I used free methods to start with... Twitter and giveaway events.

You can always use twitter to send folks to the giveaway event.

If you create a freebie offer for the WSO sections that should build it quickly. Spend 20$ and load them on your list.

The biggest thing is to take daily action. We over estimate what we can do in a week but we underestimate what we can do in a month. Daily action for a month will get you there.
