Adding Vid to Auto Responder

Hey Warriors!

It's your zany jewelry lady again.

I have finished my video tutorial to give away to new subscribers to the blog. The question is, how do I deliver it? Do I set up a f/u email with the vid attached in quicktime format? Do I post it on a private page on the blog and send them an email with the login/pw to access it? I'm not quite sure how to go about delivering the goods, but I want to make sure they get access right away.

Tutorials are in high demand on my site according to my polls, so I want to deliver on that and get them in the list.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

~D.

    Hi Danielle,
Whatever you do don't attach a vid to email! It'll take forever for some people to get it on some broadband connections and on dial up they could be at it all day plus you may get bounce backs from exceeding your customers mail box capacity!
I'd suggest you upload it online somewhere and give secure access to your subscribers if you wish.

    Danielle,

Unless you want the url passed around I would suggest using DL Guard and a protected page. You can go and change the password whenever you want and that gives you a reason to follow up to your subscribers.

Send them a link to it on your site. Probably no need for a login - do you really care if they share the link since it may lead to more subscribers/sales for you eventually?

When you say subscribers, do you mean RSS subscribers? If so, you can run your RSS feed through Feedburner. That will allow you to add permanent text to each news item with the link to the video (only RSS subscribers would see it). There is a Wordpress plugin that does the same thing.

Hi Jeff! Thank you for the reply; I have RSS thru Feedburner already, I'm working on getting a carrot ready for the mailing list side of things. I don't have a list at all yet and I'd like to get it rdy to go.

If I let them share the link, how do I get them to subscribe to the email list if they've already got the tutorial?

Chuck, you mentioned a DL Guard...where do I find that at?

Thanks guys, you're helpful as always.

That would be best I would think but I'd use FLV format not Quicktime.

Ok, you guys get me with the acronyms frequently.

What's FLV? Should I just upload it to my BlipTV acct and embed that?

Sorry Danielle. FLV is a Flash formatted file and is the most common format used for embedded video.

Yes it looks like Blip will accept your Quicktime, convert to FLV then provide you the embed code to put on your web page.

I haven't used Blip but I assume it works along the same lines as YouTube.

Ahhh, thanks David! I used my FTP program to upload it to Blip, so that should take care of any probs, and I guess I'll just put it on a p/w protected page in WP. I don't know how I'll keep it safe from ppl sharing the p/w, but oh well. Maybe they'll like the tutorial enough to sign up anyway.

Thanks again for your help everyone!
