Dear Internet Friend...

Hey Guys,

The last 3 sales letters I just read online have started with "Dear Internet Friend,". I don't know why but this irritates me. All the sales letters were extremely targetted at a certain type of person so they could have used a much better greeting in my opinion.

I know I'm splitting hairs but I honestly think its a crap greeting and I can't see why everyone is using it. What do you think?

Ya, that one seems a little weird to me. "Dear Friend" sounds okay, but not "Dear Internet Friend".

My letters all say Dear firstname. They are done through my autoresponder. I'd say these one are done through a desktop autoresponder from someone in Asia. I say that because such elaboration is usually a trait of that region.

Follow this link it's so funny you get to see all the sales letters that start "Dear Internet Friend". And amazingly this post within a couple of hours of making it is #1 in the results for me.

"dear internet friend" - Google Search

Haha... are you serious, you Google'd your own thread lol!

I don't like it when somebody calls me their internet friend... what is that suppose to mean? I'm your virtual friend that you will never meet in real life and become real friends?...

It's awkward yet very funny too to say something like that.

    Regards,

Well some might like it some might dont like it,but we should always see the picture behind the scene wht the email says as many of the warriors are also engage in IM so might be the approach is not that good but if you are a senior warrior or IM ,should ignore and see the contents of the mail if it suits you than take it else delete it.

Dont get offended on small small things.Every ones WAY OF THINKING is not the same,if we can think the way Warren Buffet ,Donald Trump think than we would be their on there seat but not doin IM sitting infront of this comp and in this forum.

I'm not offended, I just think it breaks raport by making an incorect asumption.

If I'm looking at a sales page for left handed golf clubs which is better - "Dear left handed golfer" or "Dear internet friend" ?

I personally don't like "Dear Friend" greetings either for anything that isn't going out to a response list, and if it's going out to a response list there is no reason not to personalise it with their name. I asked my last copywriter to stop using it and he had a fit, it was like I had told him that gravity didn't exist.

Yeah. It's like when I get an email from india and they always start it "Please Grateful Sir", What the hell is that supposed to mean? That I am grateful for their spam and badly written email?

It's official: people WILL complain about anything!

GuerrillaIM, I'm annoyed by your "Hey Guys" greeting. I think it should be "Hey Warrior Guys."
