My First Product, What Next?

Hey everyone,

I'm still pretty new to the IM game, but after messing with sniper sites and blogs, I decided to try my own product.

I made a guide called, "How to Build Your Own Website." It's about 30 pages with 2 videos. I feel like there's some good information and guidance in it for beginners who want to build their own site for business, personal use, etc.... I think it's real easy to follow. It's no testimonial to how I made 10k in 7 days...

But

My question is, after just having it approved on clickbank, what can I do to really get people trying to sell it?

Woops - There are way too many of those out there.

Will yours stand out from the rest?

You can check out Chris Farrell who built his business starting out with this niche.

And what does that have to do with promoting a product on CB? First off, you can learn SEO yourself. Second the OP should go ahead and promote the product just as if he were the only one to promote it but also promote the affiliate program.

So when a sale is made for example, try to turn your customer into an affiliate also. That is one way to get people to notice and start promoting it.

I hate to be a downer but I probably would have done some more research before creating that product. Keyword research, competition research, etc. It seems like that niche is pretty saturated, and also there are so many FREE alternatives to do this now (free website builders) that it doesn't make sense for someone to buy your product - even if it's better than anything out there.

Have you started building a list yet? You can promote it to your members and urge them to sign up as affiliates.

You could offer it as a WSO for a low price and get some initial buyers/testimonials, and maybe some affiliates if they like it.

People will always buy information because they feel like they are getting quality information.

There's free alternatives to everything out there, but people still buy because, to save time or to feel like they are getting the best information they can.

Reynold, I say to you well done on making your first product, it's a lot more than most people achieve.

So true and just to add onto this... People will pay for the convenience of it being laid out in a simple and easy to read manner. Have a clear step by step guide which costs 17 bucks will be a HUGE benefit to a newbie, the alternative, they have to find out first what they need to learn, then they have to find out what it actually is, opposed to just having it there, in a nice book.

I agree with what you guys are saying, but I don't think that a NEW product in this niche stands a chance unless it is extremely unique, or has some sort of USP that the competition doesn't have.

For that reason, I think PPC and SEO traffic for this product wouldn't be the best medium. But affiliate traffic would be good. You could also use article marketing OR even startup a website for people who are learning web design with free resources, articles, downloads, videos, etc. And then just promote your product on that website (thru e-mail marketing, banners, etc). I think it will be much easier to drive the traffic to a website for people who want to learn the basics of web design with free resources, rather than a product in a market that is very saturated (that's my opinion).

Making it easy for your affiliates to promote you by providing them with all the resources and information they need will also help you to build a large 'sales force'. The Magic of Making Up program for example, gives you a free subscription to one 'get ex back' article a day that affiliates can rewrite and repurpose to use for promotion of his product. He also gives them keywords, pdfs....

Offering the highest possible commission can also help. If people only make a dollar every time they refer a buying visitor to your site, it probably won't be worth the time they put in to promote you.

    Hi there,

I agree with many posts here, but don't forget, there will always be people that want to learn about how to create a website. It doesn't matter how saturated the market is, there is enough room for everyone!

As long as you believe that your product has great value to it, then that is a start.

Your best option is to build a list and then offer it as an affiliate program. Let people test drive it first and then do the selling. Maybe offer quite a high commission rate (60-75%) to the first 100 people that will sell it for you. It will be some sort of incentive to get it going.

Start by using your social networking sites and even here on warrior to get it out in the open. I see people on here everyday saying: "I am new to Internet Marketing, What can I do to make money online". I think that will be your queue to offer them that high commission.

Another way is to offer the product to other Marketers and then in return, they can sell it to their subscribers. This will give you great exposure for your product. Maybe try joint ventures, or adswaps to get the ball rolling.

    Hope this helped,

    Dev

    Hi,

I think you should make your affiliate page 'cut and paste simple' and I would also create a bonus product based around 'how to promote this package'. Once done, I would then go and seek JV partners and go from there. My 2c worth. All the very best, Allen

Without knowing more about what youre doing, I have a *sneaking* suspicion that you may have made the ultimate mistake in that many make in internet marketing. And that is....

Find the market FIRST, then develop the product.

Unless Ive missed something ...did you research this thoroughly before getting started?
