Hey there,

I saw a post on here about a month ago ( I just searched for about 5 min and can't find it ) that was sellin buy buttons and was talking about the value of different buttons.

I just built a site about a month or so ago and have had about 1500 unique visitors so far, their avg page view is 6 pages and their avg time on the site is 3 minutes.

Now, I have made this site mainly informational, but I do have a link and my book on the left side of the page.

Here is the site - Doing Good Works – Change the world and Make A Difference ( Usually the mainpage is more geared toward the book, etc. but it's Pay It Forward Day this week )

My question to you, does my buy button suck or do I just need to get a ton more traffic because I'm really not selling the book in the content on the pages?

I am just curious because I would have thought that 1 out of 1000 would have purchased. Especially when I have over 10,000 page views and the site is all on the same topic that the book is on.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would make the button say "Add to Cart"...less intimidating....

The funny thing is, Amazon even has "Add to Cart" on their site....

Try an orange button as well. The current button blends in too well with the rest of your site.

Agree. Had a hard time searching for it. Maybe a little bigger button?

Let us know if you see any difference!

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Thanks guys! I am going to try out the Belcher Button. I will let you know in a month or so what the results are. I am curious to see as well.

PS. I went into my site and started monkeying around with the button and it's all messed up. LESSON for the day - Don't put your fingers where they don't belong!

ADD TO CART or FREE TRIAL is what has always worked for me best.

A cool trick is to study your competition, especially amazon, ebay, dell ... they have done all that research themselves so you can just model the big sites and you are good to go.

Any questions just let me know

I don't think your problem is the buy button.

Your problem is a lack of salesmanship. You
don't give the viewer any idea why he or she
should buy the book, you just offer the option
    to buy.

If you were selling beer, which is a known commodity,
you put a price on it and if the price is fair and people
are thirsty, they buy. You put a price tag on an
unknown and they won't buy. They want to know
what they get before they even consider they might
    want to buy.

Exactly my thoughts... only Loren phrased it way better than I ever could

For me there were too many things on that page. If you want me (or anybody else) to buy it - make a page that has only one single purpose: to convince me about the benefits of buying your book.

Everything else on the page is just distraction. I didn't know where to focus on the page (buy? subscribe? read? or what?), so I left.

Thanks for the imput. Yeah, I had a feature up on the main page this week for Pay It Forward Day, it was pretty intense.

I may need to put up a specific sales page on the front page. With the current main page I have ( which is back up ) I was going with telling ppl about the value we wanted to give, and figured the law of large #'s would come into play. Obviously, that law of large numbers maybe 1/100,000 lol
