I have $10 for a .com domain...MY FIRST SUCCESSFUL WEBSITE I don't want to fail on this one...

I've been having difficulty with the innitial game plan. I jump into a website, rank well for it, and don't sell crap.

Why? I believe it's because I'm not doing my keyword research right. I got google sniper a while ago, and the one topic where it was very foggy was the area regarding keyword research.

I didn't hear him mention one thing about exact match but I hear it all over the warrior forum. What difference does it make when doing the innitial keyword research whether you use exact match or phrase when searching for keywords?

I want to start this one on the right foot, I want to succeed this time and prove to myself that I can do it.

I've got traffic, had high avg time on site, but am not making any money.

I need a new game plan.

what are you trying to sell? or is your website adsense based? if your affiliate marketing you may need a better pre sell page.

  • Marketing is not about mechanics or keywords. It's about PEOPLE. What do they want or need. Where do they go. What can you deliver to them that is of higher value than your competition?

      Friend,

You said you sucked at sales copy, why not do review sites then? It's a great way of training your skills in copy in a natural way.

Your site is probably too informative or educational, that no single viewer is curious enough to click on your links.

I strongly urge to you write reviews for products. Just do proper research and write, test, write, test until you get winners.

When you get that winner, you'll probably reached the next level in copywriting

I think you're right. I put so much time into adding value...That I'm not adding that urge to get the answer, because I'm already giving them the answer.

I do in fact try to be super informative with my blogs, maybe I should be pointing people in a direction rather than keeping them on my site. I have very high avg time on site for most sites.

So maybe I should try a review site and see how that goes.

How can I find a spot where I can rank for a review style blog??

That's like the main thing in IM right now.

Also I don't understand why people try to search with "prase search" and "exact match search", because in the end how do you know how many people actually type that term in quotes.

      True and Not True.

It is true that marketing is about people's needs and not keywords but what are keywords? Aren't they what people need and want?

And also, if you have the best product in the world but you don't target good enough keywords to get buyers to your site then your product is just worthless.

      Just my point of view

Yes but with that it takes keyword research to find out where those people who want or need a certain product are. Then you can deliver the value more than your competition. But if you don't know where these people are or can't attract them so they know who you are...you could want to give someone what they want or need all day long and it won't do any good.

this is one gripe i have with gsniper - ironically keyword research is pretty important.

But...it seems you got the basics right, you can rank a site? Of all things ranking sites and getting traffic is (IMO) the hardest part - it then puzzles me if people say they HAVE traffic but no sales Maybe adsense is not real your (or your audience's) thing? What about affiliate offers?
