Top MMO Blog Bites The Dust Are You Next?

I read a post here earlier about a blog I frequent called moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com It ranked number 1 for terms like make money online - and a slew of other profitable keyword terms.

It received around 2000 - 2500 unique visitors daily and has been around for a long time. It was not spam by any means it had a lot of good info on it but still Googles blogger platform deemed it spam and it was deleted just like that. All that hard work that took years to build right down the drain. I feel real bad for the owner of that blog, and I also felt his pain when my blogger blog was zapped.

I was prepared for it luckily due to the good folks on the Warriorforum and transfered over to my self hosted Wordpress blog before tragedy struck and it was just in the nick of time too. A week later my blogs gone. Man was I thankful that I was prepared. I hope the owner of that blog was.

Just another reason why you should get a self hosted wordpress blog to protect your assetts.

I Got Too Thinking What about Blog Commenting? And Marketers making money off of little mini blogger blogs?

Most of us comment on blogs for traffic, and SEO purposes for our websites, or blogs. A lot of those blogs are blogger blogs because their are so many of them out there. I know I will be cutting back on commenting on any Blogger blog because if its affiliate or Internet marketing related its only a matter of time before the Google machine zapps them too leaving your comments useless.

And all the little 1 page mini blogs hosted on blogger. I have some it is only a matter of time before they are all gone too. They seem to be targeting affiliate - or Internet marketing related blogs.

What are your thoughts on this?

How many more posts can you make on blogger? Seriously, we get it, you don't like it but your just repeating the same point over and over. Make money blogs get deleted because they had something wrong with them some where... Maybe google didn't like him teaching SEO and how to beat their search engines, maybe it was affiliate, who knows...

First time in a while I have posted anything on blogger its kind of a big deal when a blog that popular gets deleted. Do you have anything intelligent to say butters? Contribute to the post or dont even comment on it. It is a big deal to a lot of people. Maybe not you but a lot of people out there would like to know whats going on.

Errr and what was the intelligence behind starting the same topic 3+ times? Your never going to know what happened, simple as, it isn't like Google will come out and say we deleted all these blogs because... I can have a guess and say they broke the TOS which is most probably true.

The point is that Google changed/broke their own TOS/rules, which they give themselves the right to do in their contract.

Take a look at your own shared/virtual hosting contract with HostGator or whoever and see if they can't do the same thing. They probably can. They probably won't though since it would cost them business and aren't big enough to have the Google motto, "Go Big or Go Home".

Although I don't agree with them being allowed to do that but I guess the owners can't complain about it because they knew something could happen at any time.

      Hey Butters,

Lol that's because he's adding his blog link in the post.

never never never host your blog on a 3rd party service that you don't control.

I'm waiting for Tumblr to give Gary V. a swift kick.

Many corporations host their sites with 3rd party services for various reasons. I just finished up a web design contract for an advertising agency that manages web services for a number of companies that have annual sales between $10 and $50 billion as well as some smaller ones. Of course, they don't have one sided contracts like Google/Blogger does with its members.

Unfortunately, most of us 'little folks' get a one sided contract even if it's from a company providing shared or virtual hosting and, in many cases, even dedicated hosting. You have to move up into the rarefied world of co-location before you start getting some respect on contracts, provided you don't want to sink a million or so into your own web data center.

Building a blog or a site on free sites is like building a house in quick sand. It just isn't worth the risk. I saw that blogger site that ranked for make money online and I just swore to myself ... why did he do that with a blogger blog, I asked myself.

Yeah....and it made him a fortune.

Had he built the same site on a platform other than Blogger, it's highly likely he wouldn't have had that success. Blogger blogs have been given a Google "advantage" now for awhile....this guy took advantage of it and made some cash.

I'm sure he'll be just fine.

I'm also guessing he's got all that content backed up somewhere. I have every single word of content I have hosted on Blogger blogs saved on an external hard drive. If Blogger ever nixes a site, I still have the content.

From what I've seen, it appears that Google doesn't mind if you're using Blogger for affiliate sites....as long as it's the "right" affiliate.....like Adsense.

The problem is that you are making more topics when you could have simply posted what you posted in the original post. There is no need to create a new post for what you are saying since that is the main point of the original thread.

Well, so much for do no evil.

Anybody who thinks they're safe after this might want to think twice about
    that.

Looks like I'm going to rethinking suggesting to anybody that they use
Blogspot for anything other than just an Adsense generator for some quick
    trend money.

My heart really goes out to that guy.

4 years of work down the drain.

    Wow...just wow.

    Lesson:

    1. Don't spend 4 years building someone else's brand, with no security and no asset to show for it.

Seriously, I can't believe someone could be so brave/stupid to work so hard on a web property that he didn't own or have true control over.

I actually think there's more to it for one, and secondly, that the person behind it might have other fingers in bigger pies anyway...
