How Do I Download A YouTube Video To My Desktop?
 
Hi Everyone,

I need to add a youtube video to my desktop to be able to add it
to a new software I'm making.

What is the method of downloading YouTube videos to my computer?

You are aware that you can embed code provided at YouTube to run the video on your site aren't you? Not the same as you hosting it, but just wanted to make sure you knew about that.

That's what I've done at www.WinningAgainstCancer.com. Look at the Katie Couric page.

But I need to upload it "From My Desktop" into my software program.
It's not a matter of embedding onto a website.

So, again I ask. How do I download a YouTube video from youtube.com
directly to my computer so I can Upload it into a piece of software?
Not a webhost.

I downloaded what they call "TubeTilla". This seems to work fine.

Here are the two free solutions that I use:

1. Free Download Manager - absolutely free download accelerator and manager
2. RealPlayer 11 - www.real.com

Both are good and free.

I use the Axara Video Software. You can download from all the major video sites and then convert the video to another format if you wish. For Example: You can download a Video from Youtube and convert it to AVI and then open Windows media maker and then add your personal stuff and then save it to your desktop in a WMV format. I do not have a website address for you as I type this but I'm sure a search for AXARA will get you where you need to go.

I've been using this for about 2 years and haven't looked for other options but I'm sure there are other similar programs.

Download Helper is one of my favorite tech tools - incredibly powerful and versatile! And not just for youtube videos. It will allow you to download any video from any website even though they do not have a download link. And it's a free plugin for Firefox, as Sagar states.

Just a comment but...

Remember that YouTube videos are copyrighted material.

You can't just download videos and do whatever you want with them without permission from the content creator...

You can "embed" them if the creator allows that option but downloading is a different story...

Also remember that using download utilities to grab videos from YouTube violates YouTube's TOS.

There are lots of programs that let you download YouTube videos.

You can get the lite version of TubeSucker for free and it'll let you download one video at a time.

There are several youtube downloader you can use. There are also some sites where you will you just enter the url of the video and they will automatically download the flv file for you.

There is a free plug in for Firefox called Video Search and Downloader that will do it. Even works great on Facebook.

I use a program called MPEG Streamclip that works perfectly. You just enter the URL of the YouTube video and this program will download it and allow you to convert to different formats. Just google the name to find the official website.

I use keepvid.com
You copy the link from youtube to this site and it gives you new links to download from.
Allows you to download in flash format and mp4

Agree with staxx, I always download youtube videos with keepvid by going to the youtube video that you want and copying the video url and pasting into their browser. You can download the video in high quality mp4 format or low quality...a great and free tool, check it out if you can!:)

Hai Sandy,

To download video from youtube.com usually I use free download manager because can covert to avi, wmv, mpeg or mp3. Of course it's FREE
