buyaipod.com - Premium domain or copywrite infringement?

Hey guys. I was just messing around on godaddy and saw that buyaipod.com was available. I thought that was a little odd, figured if I put up a site on there, probably get hit with copywrite infringement. Your thoughts?

Apple is very aggressive with their iPod, iPad, igivemeabreak trademarks when it comes to things like this. It's a risky bet at best.

Yeah, they sued Google or somebody for the new Google phones or some apps on those phones so I'd try not messing with them.

Gotcha, that's what I was guessing when I saw it was available. Figured it was worth the $7 investment.

I like "Buy an ipad" better.

If it ranks well and ranks fast then get the most out of it until they tell you otherwise.

It is still not accepted or legal. A trademarked name is still a trademarked name.

Some fanpages however will survive since it is something that adds value to the product. This might also be for review sites, but I would not bet on it.

Also remember to always add an explanation that you are not the company, and that you are an independent reviewer.

Goggle shut me down for a few domains I had. I would expect Apple to be just as aggressive.

If I did get it I would build a site quick, as long as it was helpful, and when they came into the picture I would just drop it.

They will send you a cease and desist email and tell you to move the domain to them.
I just dropped mine and that was that

I would definately leave this domain alone, apple take copyright extremely seriously so anything you associate with the domain probably won't be there for very long!

Not quite - in the case of brand names, it's trademark infringement

It looks like you pretty much got your question answered (and I agree with Kay that it is a Trademark violation), but I wanted to share with you all (if you haven't already heard) about an Apple employee who was terminated for showing his pre-release Apple iPad to Steve "Woz":

You are all WRONG--- LEGALLY you are not infringing upon ANY company with having a name--- Cybersquatting as defined by the U.S. Supreme court is what matters here... Though you are not cybersquatting if you have a variation of the name and are using it for legitimate purposes... A legit purpose is for marketing the product. All those that say anything different here are just plain WRONG and if you want to get into a pissing match, please note that I have been a a paralegal for 25 plus years and know a thing or two here....

If you are making money for the company in sales, be rest assured that they will NOT ever go after you for making them money--- If on the other hand your trying to stop them from earning, or trying to sell a KNOCK OFF product that is like theirs but not theirs---- YOUR DONE FOR!!!

So keep in mind it is what and how your doing it---

Plus--- many good domain names are always being bought and sold on Flippa--- In case you forgot, this is internet marketing and this is what we do!!! LOL
