Best Article Writing Strategies

I have known that article writing if done correctly can draw customers to your blog/site. Thus, I wish to know what kind of article writing strategies, especially the formats, have made you a successful Internet Marketer.

Especially, the theme of writing articles on your blog can have a direct impact on the sales you generate. Thus, what kind of formats do you typically use to induce readers into believing whatever you say on your blog?

Please share your REAL experience with me and other fellow warriors here.

    ronakshah,

Not sure if some article submission places allow this (of course, on your own blog), but I've found doing something just as simple as making your article title be a QUESTION actually works quite well (With a question mark at the end)....

I feel it leaves people, well, waiting to see exactly how the 'question' is answered in it's entirety.....something so simple could keep people hanging on and reading even through a 1,000+ word article...

Article marketing, at least for me (can't speak for others) is as much a
science as it is an art.

For starters, you need to make sure you target the keywords that are going
to give you the most bang for your buck, or give you the best chance of
      getting the most views.

Secondly, the article has to be structured in a way that is going to achieve
its goal. And that goal is NOT to have somebody read it and say "What a
great article" but read it and say, "Good article. I need to get more info
from this guy." If they walk away getting everything they need to know,
      then your article failed.

To that end, this is how I structure my article.

Title - Keyword phrase in beginning and then hook at the end. The hook
is the phrase that gets them to want to read.

Example: Internet Marketing Tips - 3 Killer Ways To Generate Massive
      Traffic To Your Blog

Intro - This paragraph tells the reader exactly what they're going to
get out of the article. That way, they know what's coming and it gets
them excited to want to read further.

Body - Tells them what you said you were going to tell them in intro. I
make it straight to the point. No more, no less.

Summary - I briefly summarize the above.

Resource Box - Mine is all formula. It's in 3 parts.

      1. Remind them of their pain.
      2. Give them URL that will help them.
      3. Tell them benefit of going there.

Marketing - I don't just rely on the directories or the search engines to
get me visitors. I also use social bookmarking and networking such as
Digg and Twitter. I'll send an email to my list about articles I feel are
      particularly important.

Most of my articles are for the purpose of building my list, where I then
give them more content and build their trust.

This is what works for me. As I said, it's as much science as it is art. Yes,
you have to write well enough to keep somebody's interest. But if you
don't structure your articles in a way where people will want to learn
more, you haven't done your job.

      Anyway, hope this helps.

I am talking about writing articles on your blog, as a blogger and not as an article marketer.

However, I would be glad if people would answer for both roles since you guys have already put across some points on the latter.

On a blog, same thing. I give them enough info to keep them reading but
not so much that they don't have to buy any of my products.

I take the same approach with my blog as I do with article directories.

It would depend on what you are selling on the blog.

For physical products, I try to give posts that answer questions that the searcher might have about the product. To do this, I may go to forums or Yahoo answers and find out the questions that people are asking. Then, I use a post to answer that question, framing it in how the product that I'm promoting will help them solve the problem.

For example, if I'm selling golf clubs, people may be asking which types of golf clubs would improve their game. So I would write a series of posts about different problems with a golf game, and how each type of club would help them improve their game. So maybe this putter helps you have a better grip on the handle, or something like that (I don't have anything in golf, so I'm just making this up.)

I also may write other posts related to golf, such as latest news or tips to improve their golf gain. Basically, I would make it so they see the blog as a more complete source on golf than just there to sell golf clubs.

I'm sure you would use a different strategy for selling informational products, so I'm interested to see what people who do that have to say...My one site that sells these well is only tangentially related to the product I'm promoting. The other that is more directly promoting it does not convert as well, but I think I probably gave away too much information on it.

      Hi,

Here's my experience: I am a Virtual Assistant. I have gotten most of my retainer clients from my articles on directory sites. The rest of my clients come from referrals by current clients. I've never gotten a client with my blog or by having my article on my own site.
