Drop the Gloves. Quotes Worth Analyzing and Debating.

There's no doubt that 'quotes' have an inherent ability to inspire us. Oftentimes, they are short and sweet and convey a great point, that we can bottle up and apply to many facets of our lives.

Reading a different thread lead me to encounter a quote that I really had to contemplate for a bit. Thank you to the original poster for helping to stimulate a few of my brain cells....lol

What do you think of THIS quote? Do you agree or disagree?

"An idiot with a plan will beat a smart person with no plan every time."

With that said, I can't help but think of all the times when I've come across a great quote, yet it led me to really think about it and consider if it was REALLY worth applying to my life and telling others about it.

I'm not saying the above quote is wrong....I just think this is a great opportunity for us to really analyze those things that are constructed intentionally to give us inspiration.

Feel free to post any other quotes, to this thread, that lend themselves to analysis and debate!

"An idiot with a plan will beat a smart person with no plan every time."

Not always, but most of the time. A smart person with a goal and motivation could win, but they're unlikely to take action without forming a plan.

    Hello,
an idiot with a plan still has to put it to some use, a smart person with no plan can still get things done if he takes action.

Look at all of the successful idiots out there. All you need is a plan and it doesn't have to be your original one. One smart persons plan can be used by many idiots.

Lets say you have a smart person without a plan, and an idiot with a plan

What is the first thing that the smart person would do?

Get a plan (either make one themselves, buy one, steal one...)

So, it boils down to smart person vs. idiot....

I strongly disagree with the "every time" part of the quote.

Look at the MMO product buyers as an example. They have a plan (that they bought). Most all plans would produce results if they are followed ("work your plan"), but most simply read then move on. I'm sure than an extremely tiny number are "idiots."

Compare that to a smart person who acts, learns from his results, then improves.

While it would be ideal to plan, execute, measure, and improve, neither A nor B in your quote will win "every time."

Umm. Why would a smart person not have a plan? wouldn't that make him less than smart?

Given that I think the saying is pretty on target. Why? Because the idiot in that area is smarter for having the plan.
