Blog articles and directory articles

Greetings,

Thought I'd finally join the forums after lurking the past few days. I am about to start promoting a niche and just have a question relating to articles.

I am creating a wordpress blog and just want to know whether the articles I write for the blog are also acceptable for me to submit to the different online directories? If they require rewording do I have to reword them for each directory I submit them to? So for example lets say I write an article for my blog and I want to submit it to 5 different directories. Do I have to reword the same article 5 times?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

You don't need to reword your articles that you repost to the directories AS LONG as you make sure the article you post to your blog gets indexed FIRST.

So before you re-post your blog articles to directories (and I wouldn't do it to a lot of directories, maybe just the TOP 5 like you said), check to see if your blog article is indexed by google first by typing the following into google:

    site:yoursite.com/your-article-link/

(Note: Don't put a space between the site: and the www)

Do that and you should be fine. There's no such thing as a duplicate content "penalty", Google sometimes just doesn't index duplicated content. If you make sure your blog article gets indexed FIRST, however, you'll bypass that issue.

Most likely, your blog article AND the article directory articles will both get indexed but do that to play it safe.

    Hope that helps!

Naw you wont have to reword the articles, but make sure you only post your articles to the BEST (i.e. top 10) directories instead of thousands of directories.

    The top 10 will do.

Any questions just let me know

There are thousands of directories out there and I am sure if you asked everyone what the top 10 directories to submit to are you will end up with a list of well thousands of directories.

What do you consider the "top 10" article directories?

It won't affect much as long as you submit it to 5 or 10 article sites

Guest post links are effective when they are contextual and natural!!

Thanks for the input guys. I assume the only difference with the articles I submit to the directories is the link back to the blog. Would you recommend I submit every blog article I write to the top directories (obviously after they are indexed)? I'm planning to write about one article per day on the blog

Just curious - do you submit the exact same article as the one on your blog to your 8 prime article directories, or do change them to make them unique?

        Thanks - Anne

Not quite as time-consuming as I've made it sound!

To me, the big, important thing that eclipses everything else, is always to publish it myself first, though. Otherwise you're just building up other people's sites instead of your own, and ensuring that directories will always outrank you for your own keywords.
            Thanks Alexa

Make sure you do not get impatient about posting to those article directories.

Like Jon said, post your article on your blog first. Let it get indexed first.

I would make sure to point all your directory articles back to your original article.

So after it is indexed on my blog, can I submit them straight away to all 5 directories or do I have to submit it to one directory wait for it to get indexed then move onto the next one?

I'm just paranoid that Google will pull me up for spamming

Nice one for that thread link. Read through the first couple of pages, so many differing opinions. I guess the only way to see what works best for you is trial and error

Like most of the others, I post to my site first then to ezines after it's been indexed. Once accepted into ezine then I post to 4 or 5 other directories and that's it.
