How do you sort through all the free advice out there?

I've literally been bombarded with email after email from internet "gurus" offering paid courses, training videos, and mentoring opportunities. It is difficult to sort through it all. And, I've wasted a lot of money on bad advice.
At this point, I only open emails from marketers with whom I've had a positive experience. Chris Freville is one of them - he has taught me quite a bit about building websites, lists, and has opened my eyes to alot of available tools that I now use every day.
I opened an email from him today offering several free videos. Obviously he is doing this to grow his list, but it is brilliant. So, if anyone is interested this is the free video he was offering: internetcashcade.com

I have had a similar experience over the past year or so. I've never lost money, though, because I only buy products that are through Clickbank, which means I'm protected by their guarantee. Free videos and info are sometimes useful but I would say, in most cases they are counter-productive. In fact, I do not consider them to be "free" because I consider my time to be worth something. Don't sort through all the different advice, just pick one good one and stick with it. It is hard to ignore the email telling you you'll be making six-figures if you follow such and such, but that is what you must do.

Probably more true than you originally intended...

I've learned to apply 2 simple rules when deciding what to buy and read:

      1. Only take advice from names that I know and trust. This isn't necessarily the flashiest guru or the one who just did the biggest launch, but people who continue to provide solid information at a reasonable price day in and day out. There are plenty of them on WF alone

      2. Use reason. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Yeah a lot of people get overwhelmed with so much information from so many different sources that at the end of the day you spend your time "learning" yet next day you end up doing the same. (Happened to me)

I agree with Cormacko, unsubscribe to all the newsletters and keep the one or two that actually help you out. Take action and learn from your mistakes.

Many of us newbies spend too much time watching as many courses and reading as much as we can in hope that when we get out feet wet we don't fail, but hey this game is all about trial and error from what I understand.

    Cheers

There is so much FREE information right here on the Warrior Forum, in the WSO section, that you can't read it all. Much of it is pretty good, at least what I have been able to read. I don't have a lot of money to buy a bunch of stuff, so I watch for free stuff to help me out.

I have learned a lot, especially from a course that I got from John (Zeus66), and now I feel like I am on the brink of making some money. It may not be a whole lot at first, but I believe I have all the tools in place to generate a constant stream of revenue. We shall see in the next couple of weeks. But I feel like it will happen real soon. I am putting a new site together today.

For anyone that is interested, Zeus66 sells some very good material. It is obvious that he knows his stuff. And I recommend him for anyone that is looking to learn how to do internet marketing.

    Anyway, that is my $0.02.

I sort through it by not even looking at it if it doesn't pertain to what I'm doing right then and there.

Often times, people will do themselves wayyy more harm than good, simply by innocently reading threads, emails, and other information they are able to find.

What usually happens is they read something, it sounds good, so they spend the next 4 hours trying to find out everything they can about it.

End result? They don't get a damn thing done that day.

Money made reading great free information? 0
