1000th post - Here's how you can get credibility, leads, and sales FAST

Hello,

You know, I joined the WF over a couple years ago, but I didn't really start posting regularly until just over a year ago I think. If I started earlier, I might've had 2000 posts by now

Anyhoo, I wanted to give something special to y'all to celebrate my 1000th post.

Before you go any further, I just want to let you know that the general method outlined in this post was originally Rob Toth's idea. I have merely written it in my own words and added some of my own stuff to it.

Rob's a real smart dude and you can find him at MoneyNowGenie.com.

I don't get anything for sending you over there. I just think you should sign-up to his list, pay him money, or do whatever he tells you to do You know those guys that, whenever they send you an email, you immediately open it without looking at the subject line? Rob's one of those guys for me.

Back on topic: how to get credibility, leads, and sales FAST.

This is ideal for people who consider themselves a step past newbiedom, but this is still great for newbies to swish around in their heads.

Every IMer wants credibility, leads, and sales, right?

So why does everyone seemingly start off their IM careers doing the following:
-stick up a blog
-write and submit articles
-stick up Adsense ads
-engage in hope marketing (i.e. "I hope I'll make a sale today")

How often do we hear about people who have been staring at their crappy blogs for years and still haven't seen the big picture?

Here's a tip for ya: find an expert who does what you want to do (be it list building, site flipping, continuity, offline consulting, etc.), learn from them, and even copy from them if possible.

Most of them don't bite and are actually approachable. They love helping people out, but only people who deserve to be helped out.

So if you're a no-good slacker, close-minded, ignorant, arrogant, or otherwise naughty, then I'm sorry, but you can't be helped.

On the other hand, experts/gurus do like helping people who show initiative, a light upstairs, and vision.

The best ways to get on a guru's radar (IMO) are to go to live events and chat with them, sell tons of their stuff, or pay for their top-level stuff (private mastermind groups, personal coaching, etc.).

Of course, it isn't realistic to expect all beginners and intermediates to be able to afford high-ticket stuff or consistently land on JV leaderboards.

So what people often do to get the attention of a certain guru is to ask them how they can help them. While they do like getting quality services for free, you can imagine how many people contact them on a regular basis who want to get their attention.

To get their attention, you have to stand out, right?

Here's how to stand out to them (and get credibility, leads, and sales in the process):

You make them an irresistible offer by doing all the work for them. This idea involves product creation, but if that's not your cup of tea, I'm sure you can think of an irresistible offer related to your skill set that you'd be able to propose.

First, you find a bunch of experts with lists.

Suppose guru A has 10000 subscribers. Say you have a $47 product. Say guru A would be able to make roughly 200-300 sales with a couple mailings.

That's $9400-$14100 waiting to be made.

But as it stands, you don't have an irresistible offer yet.

Here's what you can offer to do:
  • develop the entire product (including the sales funnel)
  • pay for all the costs incurred from product development (design, copy, etc.)
  • give them exclusive rights to it (but keep PLR rights yourself) and let them do whatever they want with it as long as you get introduced as co-author
  • give away 90% (or even 100%) of the profits, but you get the leads

Say you gave them 90% of the profits. You would've probably made over $1000 from that one deal. That may not seem like a lot, but what if the list was bigger? What if your product was more expensive? What if conversions were better? What if they mailed a couple more times?

Also, you will have built a list of people who associate your name with the expert's name. You just gained instant street cred, yo. Oh yeah, and every single person on your list will be a buyer. No more wasting time with freebies...all your subscribers will be proven buyers.

Now if you did a great job with the product, guru A will be very happy with you. They'll know that you're competent and a nice person, so they'll most likely be willing to work with you in the future.

Plus, with their permission, you can make the whole project into a case study. You'd then show this case study to other gurus in order to get projects done with them as well.

Voila: instant credibility, a quick list of buyers ready to hear from you again, and some cash in your pocket that you can (re)invest.

You know what the best part is from all this?

If you can/want, you can outsource the product creation. All you would then need to do is get a guru to agree to a deal, coordinate with freelancers to create a product that the guru would want, hand it over when it's done, and watch the leads and sales flow in.

This isn't for totally green newbies, but you can definitely do this if you have some knowledge of product development, sales funnels, market research, and all that.

Even if you've made less than $1000 online to date, you could realistically have a 5-6 figure business within a year or two. It just depends on the quality of your work, the number of deals you put together, and how well you follow up with your new subscribers.

Anyway, thanks for reading. I look forward to making another 1000 posts

Congrats on the post total. One thing I find very interesting within the IM world is the lack of people skills.

So many get into this business without really understanding the basics of making the right connection with the right people can totally turn a good idea, business plan or concept into a muti-million, Guru spawning, mega earner.

Yep, you can do this for an affiliate promotion or you can just do it to create a product.

For affiliate promotions, you'd definitely need a sizeable and responsive list. Gurus won't want to commit an hour (for example) to a call if nobody shows up.

When creating a product, you'd plug their site at the end of the call and give them the rights to use it as they please. As a bonus, you could even get it transcribed and hand the DOC and PDF over to them. They'd definitely appreciate that little gesture.

Congrats on your 1000 posts! I... like you, joined the Warrior Forum a couple years ago and finally now starting to get more involved and active.

I liked the term: "hope marketing" (i.e. "I hope I'll make a sale today") I hear that so often... that I really never thought of it as it's own marketing category!

I have often said that online marketing success is based around the success of the people you hang around. You hang out with people who do penny clicks... you'll make lots of pennies... you hang around people who make 6 and 7 figure incomes... you'll make 6 and 7 figure incomes. You hang around people who jump from one business to another... you'll be a jumper too. It's the Law of Attraction... you will become the person who you are attracted to.

Thanks...you're absolutely right. It's unfortunate that most people don't nurture these relationships from the get go.

I wonder if this term has been coined yet. If not, you heard it here first.

I highly agree. These gurus would always welcome interviews as it's also part of "marketing" themselves to this newbie's networks which in both parts helping each other.

            Great anniversary post Curtis!

      Scott,

So true about who you hang out with. Someone told me that your income is directly proportionate to your 6 closest friends.

Something to consider the next time your at home working and the phone rings with an invite to go hang out with the boys/girls for drinks!

This can and is being done.... Follow the OP's plan and make it your own, tweak it, do with it as you wish but the point is to TAKE ACTION! One thing I would like to add here is that once you get the highly responsive set of leads follow up with them on a daily basis but not with offers only. Provide real value to their lives and you will continue to foster that relationship and continue to see sales from that list.

Very good post and worth its weight in gold. I like the idea of offering up our services to other internet marketers especially if they have a big list.

It can be something as simple as creating a new logo or banner for a product. I think we all have some hidden talents that can be utilized for the greater good.

It's not just about making money, it about building relationships. The money part will come later.

      Cheers,

    Thanks everyone

And Paul, great point about up-and-comers. Most people would love to be interviewed, but I think relatively unknown marketers who are really killing it online would especially love the exposure.

Just to repeat myself, one of the best ways to get an expert to listen to what you have to say is to make an irresistible offer.

It doesn't matter what you're good at...there must be something you can offer. If you honestly don't have any skills, then pay someone with skills.

If you have no money and no skills...well, you don't have to use this method. This is really just one way of thinking a bit outside the box to jumpstart your business.

    Cheers,
    Curtis
