This is actually pretty exciting...

I am marketing my own product (actually, my wife's product). Anyhow, she's made four sales in the last 24 hours on an item that I'm not even actively promoting. Turns out she is ranking page one via an image for this particular item. It is a bestseller for us and always has been, but I've never promoted the exact item. I've seen this method suggested (haven't used it)! Now, I think maybe the method works pretty well, so I'm going to test that out over the next couple of weeks

To be clear, this is a very specific item. She has over 200 specific items on her site. I'm promoting the site and a subcategory specifically, but not this item in particular. I did a little research tonight to try and figure out where the traffic is coming from. It absolutely has to be coming from the image. There is no other explanation. Without the image, she wouldn't rank in the top 3 pages.

Interesting!

I agree. I'm still trying to figure out how to integrate GA with my .php site. It's a 100% eCommerce site. I think I know how to do it, but I have to be careful so I don't screw the whole thing up. I don't have a dev site to test on, so that's why I go so slow.
