TOS, Disclaimer & Privacy Pages?

Don't just grab them off the web. Some of those are actually legal products and you have to have a license to use them.

That could be potential copyright infringement. (Yes, even on legal docs...)

Either hire a lawyer or look for a site on the web that offers templates for forms like that. I'm sure some will chime in with suggestions for the latter.

willyboy, you should simply STOP right now.

There are very good reasons and purposes for having disclaimers and terms of service. If you're just copying something to have something, then you could easily end up with terms that have the opposite result of what you want.

For example, one goal is not to be litigation magnet. Instead of making attorneys drool after reading your legal terms, you want to be a porcupine that prevents legal hassles and problems.

Slapping up the wrong terms on your website could be worse than not having any terms.

There is a reason I mentioned editing and re-structuring the TOS/Privacy Policy, the reasons you mentioned above.

I was merely going to use them as a sort of template, to use for my site however thank you for your reply and it is a word of warning to anyone else who would merely copy and paste TOS/Privacy policies without changing things around.

  These privacy policies are getting trickier with the new laws, google adsense new rules, etc.
  
  It is VERY important though, I have had lawyers contact me about taking things down.
  
  For example I was selling an acne cream from ebay instead of using their program. They sent me a legal document asking me nicely to take it down and of course I did.
  
  Im sure a privacy policy cant completely protect you but it is better than nothing!

Listen there are sites that you can grab the TOS and privacy policy for free.... You can also copy them and NOT have any type of legal issue because 99.9% of TOS and Privacy policies as well as other types of standard terms are cut and copy with an insert of the site url and main corp.

Your ToS should certainly reflect your desires. But keep in mind that they will have no effect on what people actually do. They will be universally ignored, so do keep it brief and don't spend too much time on them.

I've never bothered with privacy policies.

You gotta use them to protect your own ass from lawsuits and claims. If you don't use them, I'd say start using them from now onwards.

If a person ignores it, No problem but when he sues you for thousands of dollars then you can use have the TOS to protect you.
