Have you tried Offline marketing?

Hey warriors. I really want to step into the ring of offline marketing by dominating the search engines for a long tailed offline business. For example:

oceanside chinese restaurant - around 40 000 competing pages, I would aim for something a little lower

The problem im facing is the damned directories. Theres like 3 on the first page and google maps whoring a huge space.

Does anyone have any tips or such to start out doing this? How to contact business owners about this? The main problem im facing is finding a niche that has a NEED for more business but does not have a huge competition. Sorry if I dont make sense. I havnt had any sleep for the last 30 hours.

    Hi Anthony,

I've posted a lot of stuff in the war room. I'm lucky enough that I do a lot of business meeting. I had a meeting at a bakery a few days ago which we just the deal on. Fantastic company trying to become more widely known in the UK, then on to Ireland.

From my own perspective, I think you might be approaching this the wrong way. From your focus on just SEO and long tail keywords - you are coming at this (I feel) like some sort of Bum Marketing project...

The first thing you need to do is open your mind to possibilities. It seems like you might be approaching this as one would a niche marketing exercise.

It also seems like you assume that you have to supply seo. There are lots of other services.

Secondly, I don't notice any sort of local / regional aspect to your offline campaign.

Here is what I would recommend, I'm sure others can chime in with a lot more.

Firstly, find a region and a niche you would like to work in for that week / whatever time scale you want.

So - I'll go with Vancouver and Chinese food as my search terms.

First thing I can see is the local business results.

Guess what, some of them are completely unoptimized. One is (at the time of writing) created by Google, not the owner.

As such, these aren't hard results to get into at all.

The thing is, you don't even need to sell seo, you could sell contact forms, restaurant loyalty systems, SMS services, marketing advice. The list goes on and on.

The first thing you need to do is understand that you can sell a whole load of services. Offline is usually about local - it doesn't have to be local to you, but you get the idea.

Thirdly, the results I pulled up are not well optimised - fairly easy to get into.

Finally - you want long tail keywords for offline? WHY???

I would strongly suggest going to the War Room and reading some of the great info there.

That statement. I dont really know what those things mean  How would you optimize someones crappy made website. Is targetting long tailed keywords not right when doing local business? I want to rank say, 1st for vancouver chinese restaurant, how would I do that when there are major directories.

Thanks, im sorry if im asking noob questions!

Here's a great trick on how to spy on competitors in the offline world. Check out magazines or classifieds. If their ad keeps appearing, you know something must be working. Just get some old magazines and recent ones and check the advertizing sections. Then if a competitor is STILL advertizing, you got yourself a profitable campaign you can copy
