Site design and split testing

I have a large site (too large) and need a better conversion on my ebooks, so I really need to crack down on myself and split test my sales pages.

I am going to take some advice to break down this site into smaller sites. Instead of tearing this site down, I am going to take sections and rewrite them to make smaller sites and to help me split test pages. But I'm not sure how to go about that.

So, actually, I guess I have 2 questions:

1) to save time, what would be better to build these smaller sites with, blogger, wordpress or Xsitepro? (I have been wanting to buy this program for some time.) Or is there a better option? I will monetize the sites with adsense and my ebook as well as affiliate ebooks.

2) I have searched but cannot find a thread on how to properly split test a page. I know about what to test; colors, heading, etc., but how to actually, physically do it. for example; 2 pages on the same site? 2 pages on separate domains? Does split testing only work when purchasing adwords or simliar or can traffic be directed to the landing page with article marketing?

Any direction or help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Google's webmaster kit includes a very effective split
testing application, supports simple A/B or full multivariate
testing, its' extremely good and free.

Split testing is relevant on organic or paid.

If you're building mini-sites I would avoid blogger etc,
keep control of your sites at all costs .

Why do you need to break down the site into smaller sites ?

What's the real benefit to you in doing so ?

Doesn't sound ideal to me, taking an existing site
and breaking it up into numerous mini sites.

I would look at how you can simply catagorize the single
large site more effectively to allow you to split test
    results from internal pages.

It's somewhat awkward to advise without being able to see
it in the flesh to to speak.

Thanks for reading and for your input. I will go to the Google package next and check out the split testing.

I want to create the smaller sites because I used a program that uses a "sitebuilder" to create the sites. It is possible to upload my own html page, but not sure if I should do that - it would change the look and feel of those pages within the site.

I have been working on that site for a couple years, following advice of "just keep adding content, slow and steady wins the race," kind of stuff. Unfortunately, there was not enough marketing info (for me anyway) about how to actual sell. Now I understand there is a whole technique to page design, psychology, split testing, etc. I mean, putting your heart into your work does not guarantee sales, I see that now.

Now this site is so big, but not making the money it should (imo). I "know" I can do better, but I get so overwhelmed trying to rework this site, tweaking it, re-arranging it, trying to figure out where to focus my linking (so many potential sales pages), etc. So I feel like if I start from scratch, there is a possibility that I can get a "fresh start" and do it better.

I may be way off track. If you have input on this, feel free. I messed up and need to know how to fix it.

The "home page" is below, but an actual sales page that I focus backlinking on is Whole Body Cleanse (if you want to look).
