Hi guys, Let me introduce myself, My name is robin from kent in england.

My background is in sales and sales training, recently i have been reading about affiliate marketing and have been doing some research and do have an understanding of how it works. Well kind of anyway. What id like to do if i can be so bold is ask three questions.

1. Should i make one super site about lots of interesting things, with articles on a wide range of subjects, with the view of gaining regular traffic before i monetize the site and join any affiliate networks. Or Do i sign up to affiliate programs, each with their own domain and site as outlined in the super affiliate handbook and monetize the site straight away?

2. Website creation! I am learning Dreamweaver but im also interested in Joomla. Which one will be best to use for a newbie who hasn't built a site before.

3. Website or blog? which is the most effective in gaining an ordiance?

All im interested in at this stage is learning something new and interesting. I know this will be a long term project just to make a modest income. Im not looking for a get rich quick scheme. Just for a challenge.

Thanks guys

I have never built an Authority site so not sure about just doing one domain.

I would get your Niche and keywords. Then get a domain with the keyword in it. Monetize the site. Then focus on getting traffic. Once I spent a week or got a good amount of traffic to that site I will go onto a new site.

I find Wordpress to be the easiest way to set up a website online.

    For me Blogs work great.

Best of Luck and keep taking action.

Depends on your niche and the traffic you can generate to the site.

    2. Website creation! I am learning Dreamweaver but im also interested in Joomla. Which one will be best to use for a newbie who hasn't built a site before.
Note: I think they're both different but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

    What I recommend is Wordpress.

    3. Website or blog? which is the most effective in gaining an ordiance?
Once again, depends on your niche. But IMO blogs are easier to manage.

Being a newbie, he's probably going to need more detailed advice than "depends." Using phrases that start with "for example, ..." is a good idea, and makes your advice useful.

    Hi Robin,

I would advise you to make a few "mini-sites" around one or more affiliate products of the same kind. For example if you are in the Lose Weight niche you might wanna build a small site that sells ebooks on losing weight, weight loss pills and exercises.

    Why?
    • They are way easier to build than one big site
    • It's easier to test which product is working for you or not
    • You can tweak it to a (single) keyword and thus rank for that keyword in search engines (you might wanna look into SEO!)
    • You would like to come across as an expert in your niche. When you're offering a wide range of products on one site, you might be considered a jack of all trades

I think blogging is ideal for this. You might wanna look into Wordpress. If you open a hosting account with Hostgator, you have Wordpress (and Joomla) included and ready installed for you.

I advise you to check out Google Sniper by George Brown.

Anyway, I hope this answers some of your questions. Best of luck to you.

    Thomas

Hey Robin welcome, man this one is a tough one, but from eperience, I think it would be advisable to focus on a niche and dominate it to avoid spreading yourself thin. I don't really think you need to have different domain names for each affiliate programme as such as you can use subdomains with just one very good domain name. Maybe only use a different name when absolutely necessary. I would monetize the site or blog straigt away, as long as you are going to fill it fast with informative and entertaining articles.

From the sound of it, you have got Dreamweaver, and it's by far the best HTML editor on the market, if you are comfortable with it, I would say stay with it. I am also looking at Joomla after someone recommended it, and I think the bottom line is it's good in it's own way, particulalry for blogs, I have been using Wordpress all along and have become comfortable with it and it's also good in it's own ways. So yeah, you will definetly need Joomla for blogs anyway but it sounds like a lot of work at one go Rob?

Blog is higly recommended generally, this is because search engines love them, but with fresh and new content. With the many plugins and widgets they are out there, you can do things with that you can't with a website. However, you will need minisites to intergrate into your blog as someone mentioned.

Hope that helps and have fun:-)
