I'm thinking about creating a site based on softwares, etc. What do you guys think of this niche? Do you think there is much of an opportunity in it to generate revenue? Thinking on the areas of information, reviews, tutorials. What do you think.

    Enwereuzo,

I think you need to provide more info. Software for what purpose?

Are you talking about creating software or becoming an affiliate of a software product?

If you find a niche market that wants software then I guess you can generate an income.

I think we are going to need more information before we can make a comment. I can tell you that for the software I am interested in, I always skip the big name reviews (like cnet) and head straight to the message boards. I want to get real info, from real people, who are running the software on a normal system, with daily usage and net connectivity.

That is a jam packed niche. The adsense clicks may provide pretty high payments per click, but your traffic will be relatively low for a long time because of the high competition. You have to narrow yourself down to more specific software or a smaller piece of that niche. For example, you can create an entire site on software like Photoshop, but even this area is highly competitive. Do some key word research and dig down for an area that interest you with little competition. Big software websites are very competitive, but they work on such a large scale that they don't usually have the time or resources to focus on the smaller niches you can capitalize on.

Sincere advice, learn how to research a niche, join a program or learn by yourself. You would not want to put all your effort in a niche and find out after months that it's a dud.

You can find all kinds of $$$ working the software niche. Now it's just time to learn how to research a niche and its buyers, what makes them tick, where they hang out, how they talk, etc.
