Hello all,
I am trying to promoting my site and I have decided to do the following.
1. Link building through article marketing ( submitting to ezinearticles and goarticles)
2. Submitting to Social sites like digg and humsurfer.
3. Commenting on other people's blog
4. Exchanging links with people in my niche.
5. Providing quality content regularly.

Will this help this help my site get ranked searches fast ? Is there anything I need to add ? I will also like to know if it is good to post the same article post on my site on different article directories ? Is it possible for me to include opt-in code on the blog ( the url is http://onlineweightlossexpert.com/blog)

Another thing I will like to know is how to squidoo and hubpage works.

    Hey there

I don't know how fast will it happen, but I know for sure that you'll get indexed. And if you have a good domain name and an optimized website you'll be placed in a pretty good position as well.

As for your blog, yes, it's possible to include an optin box (widget or in the main page)

Also, link building by submitting to directories, and especially directories in your niche if they exist.

There are others more qualified to explain about how to use Squidoo and Hubpages, but I wanted to point out that each of these has a module for an RSS feed, which can point back to your blog.

First off, search engines do not like duplicate content, so submitting the same article to multiple sites is not going to work in your favor at all.

    On Squidoo:

Squidoo is an awesome site for building quality backlinks to your blog, but the RSS module is not the way to do it. Those links are no follow, so you'll need to use the Google Blog Search module to mimic a standard RSS feed.

You can read more on how to do this here:
    potpiegirl.com/2008/06/blog-exposure-with-squidoo/

There are various other modules that you can use for backlinks to specific posts or to the main URL. The possibilities are limited only to your own creativity.

However, a successful Squidoo campaign involves creating more than just one lens, and works best when you include anchor text links in the mix. Study Squidoo and the lenses in the "Squidoo Tips" portion of the site to learn about the most effective methods for lens creation, and use your target keywords in the url, title, intro, and module titles (naturally, not as keyword stuffing) for SERP purposes.

Or, you can just outsource your Squidoo campaign and do more of what you do best (see the sig link below).

    Hope this helps :0)

An interesting thread with good posts.

However, I have a question. As, search engines have changed the way they index websites, it seems that linking, submissions etc, rarely work. There is more emphasis on "Content" matter more than anything ele.

Can someone explain as to whether jsut having "good content" can assure you good rankings or you need to do more?

Posting your articles to multiple sites will NOT be considered duplicate content. Google sees duplicate content as content you have ON YOUR OWN SITE more than once.

If having your articles posted in multiple places were considered duplicate content, Ezine Articles would be in a heap of trouble! Think of all the ezine publishers and website owners that use those articles on their own sites.

Also, when posting to your blog make sure to use whatever keywords you have chosen on your blog. Place them in your blog post titles, and use them at a rate of about 2% in the content of your posts.

    Hope this helps

Thanks to every one who answered, does any one have any idea how I can put up a optin form on a word press blog or even blogger ( paid version)

You can put an opt-in form on blogger, even a free one.

If you are using html code from your autoresponder provider, you can simply go to "layout", then "add a gadget". This is on Blogger, by the way.

Once the list of options comes up, simply select "html/javascript" option, and paste your code into the box that comes up. Easy!

    Hope this helps

  • You still need a solid written website with greatest amount of keywords designed within each paragraph ....and all a while you're not appearing to staking the deck with keywords. Remember to be the best....you have to be better than the best.
I always aim for the number 1 google ranking, if I don't make it then I most likely will still make the top 5. But at least I am on the front page.
Links are great and you need them, but I feel more people come into a website from the internet search engines than backlinks.

It seems that everyone has their own idea of what works and the truth is that they are all correct.

I would suggest that everybody here has had some degree of success online. Many are very successful in terms of monetary gain, while others simply claim success with simply having fun.

The point is you will need to sample a bit of everything that seems like it will work for you. Sort of like going to an all you can eat buffet, some things you will love while others you will not touch.

Once you find one thing that works for you, keep doing it, duplicate the effort.

Internet marketing is not a plug and play device, it takes time (and lots of it) and determination to see your success.

Promote to your email list. Get other email list owners to promote in return for something.

Get bloggers to review your blog. In fact, I recently got featured on JohnChow.com and I'm receiving tons and tons of traffic.

I am getting frustrated with this squidoo of a thing, I have been reading alot since yesterday and I must confess I like what I have read so far. PotPieGirl.com | SEO - Squidoo - Niche Marketing - Search Engine Ranking | I Can Help! has been really imformative but I just don't seem to be getting it when it comes to creating a lens.

I have filled all their forms but some javascript code keeps popping up making it hard for me to create a lens. Can some one explain what this Java script codes means, it is a problem with my computer or something else ? (frustrated)

One good way of promoting your blog is to subscribe to websites such as Digg and Propeller. You can submit your blog post so that other individuals will be able to read it and follow the link to your blog. Adding sites such as these to your list of ways to promote your blog can really help.

propeller, digg, yahoo buzz, reddit and the rest are pure nonsense. I have been online for the past 9 months and I have always try to use all those useless ( sorry for the harsh words) services. The maximum amount of time traffic from those service spend on my site is 0 seconds.

I am now finally on squidoo after about 4 hours of trial and error but I still need to know how to hyperlink my text. Can some one here ?

Your approach to using these services may make them nonsense for you, that's ok the rest of us can continue to get hundreds of quality visitors each week this way.

The truth is that you must study the top posts in these social and content directories to figure out WHY the top listings are there - it has to do with how you write headlines.

They can be a source of significant traffic, not nonsense.

As for your question about how to put an opt-in form on your blog - you can add the code from your autoresponder directly into your main template or you can add it to the navigation panel by including it as a text widget.

Unless things have changed on Squidoo, the last time I hyper-linked text you did it like this:

    <a href="your-site-url">text you want linked</a>

Maybe things have changed - I haven't added content to my Squidoo lenses in a few weeks.

yes, all of those will help you getting some ranks.
However, web 2.0 is a continuous process, you can't just set it once and leave it. If you are lazy like me, this can be a problem.

I like to have a link from directories. Directories submission service such as the one from info.vilesilencer.com will do the job for you. Then you can target Google for misspelling keywords that get high searches.

You just need to do it once, and let the traffic grow

Thanks to every one for all the advice, I am finding this place very useful. I have finally been able to create a len and I am enjoying every part of it, hoping to have success with it.

    Another question

Now that I know how to create a link and hyperlink my text, I need to know if I can add my affiliate link to any of my articles ( lens) or I should wait till the lens gets indexed before I do it ?

How many hours/days does it take for google index a lens?

    Thanks in advance

    Yommy,

Squidoo is very affiliate friendly; that's why many of us are there. The Squidoo powers-that-be don't have a problem with you making money from your lenses, as long as you do so ethically. Squidoo lenses are designed to be traffic funnels, so you don't have to be shy about your affiliate links. Just provide useful information around the affiliate links. If you are giving web searchers the information that they seek, you should reap the rewards if you can convert the traffic.

I'm glad that you are finally getting tha hang of Squidoo. Lens creation is rewarding and can be quite profitable in and of itself. However, if you are looking to launch a Squidoo marketing campaign and you want to reap the benefits sooner rather than later, you may want to consider outsourcing your Squidoo lens creation.

BTW, I gets LOTS of traffic to my lenses through social bookmarking sites like Digg and StumbleUpon. Whether or not the traffic bounces depends on how effectively you deliver valuable information and how well you package it.

    Hope this helps :-)

I am kinda new here...ok this is my first post, but I thought I would share a little personal expeirence with you. I did the whole 30dc thing, created a blog in a micro-niche market with decent traffic in a day, that night I submitted an article I wrote to some social bookmarking sites via site marker. (I am not promoting, but very effective) The next morning my add was on the first page of Google with Digg! 5000 competing pages, so I think that social bookmarking works very well. I also created a Squidoo and Hubpages to get authority backlinks, Google really likes these sites!

thanks to every one who has been of help in this thread, You guys are truely warriors. I have been able to create a lens and through the help of Tess47 ( She simply wonderful ) I have been able to know what I am doing wrong with my lens ( I actually spent her PM) but I have a question again.

I did a reseach on adwords.google.com for the key word weight loss since it is my area and browsed through the keywords generated for me. I was lucky to get many with low competiton but there is one with 49,500 searches in july ( wieght loss) .

If you check the spelling well, you see there is an error, I know this is good but then I have my doubts about it. I did a search on google for that key word and it resulted some searchles but then it say Did you mean: "weight loss" just above my original search. Do you think I should still use this keyword.

I know if it was to be me doing the search, I would easily click on Did you mean: "weight loss" and I believe so many people will think like me. What does any one think ?is it a good idea for me to use weight loss" or look for some other keywords ?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[185833].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author Karin
Yes it is a good keyword to use. Lots of people will ignore the message google sends them and just scan the search results. As long as they are related to weight loss it will work. I have many pages targeting misspelled keywords and they do get traffic.
Even if you don't believe me, what is wrong with testing it?
