I am setting up a OTO (finally!) on one of my product's sites and I need to know what is the most effective sequence. Is it:

A:

Sales Page >> OTO >> ClickBank >> DL Page

or

B:

Sales Page >> ClickBank >> DL Page & OTO >> ClickBank (for OTO) >> DL Page for OTO

Basically, do I ask them to buy the OTO before paying anything or do I get the initial sale and then upsell to the OTO (sending them back to ClickBank for a second time)?

Thanks...

Personally I would get the sale first then offer it. Just my opinion

    I'm presuming you don't have 1 click up-sells , if you've done
over 5000 sales, with a less than 10% refund rate and less
than 6% charge back rate you can get 1 click up sells from
within the cart, a greatly simplified OTO process.

Generally speaking with out 1CU you go:

Order page - CB >> OTO , if yes - take back to CB for payment , then out to download page with OTO plus basic package on it.

If no, go to DL page without OTO on.

      No... don't have 1 Click.

Okay, so they pay for the INITIAL item, then OTO them for the full package and they pay again, right? (Just making sure I got it.)

      Thanks!

        Yep.

You don't want to ruin the initial sale with an OTO.

Some folks hate them on principle, they can also be distracting,
they can put hurdles in the middle of a sales funnel, none of
        which you want to entertain.

Get the initial sale in the bag, money in the bank.

        Then give them the OTO.

          @SimonHarrison:

          Simon,

I am new to clickbank as a merchant and maybe
you could answer this question of mine, you seem
          to be experienced with CB.

How do you technically implement OTO with CB without 1CU ?

Let's say I want to offer an OTO after the customer has paid
          for the front end product.

Customer buys the front end product and then he/she must be sent
to the download page (according to CB rules, that is the
thankyou page link that I must provide in my CB account during
          product approval period).

Front end product---->CB purchase -----> thankyou page

Now instead of automatically sending the customer to the
thankyoupage after the purchase, what do I do?

Do I have to replace the original thankyoupage with the sales
page for the OTO with 'yes/no' links and have two different
thankyou pages. If you do it that way, is that actually allowed
          by CB?

Front end product---->CB purchase 1-----> OTO

OTO (YES) ----> CB purchase 2 --> thankyou page with both products
OTO (NO) ----> thankyou page with only front end product

When the front end product is approved by CB there is a thankyou page
URL in my CB account for that product that they checked and approved
because it really was a process and a thankyou page that comply to their
          rules.

Now if I have to replace the approved thankyou page with the OTO page
and change the whole process after the payment, is that allowed?

Or are you doing it differently?

As always, you should test it.

I personally have found pretty good success with:

Sales page >> OTO >> Check Out.

    Go with the first one.

If you put something in front of a person who just finished paying for it he most probably won't buy it. Put it in front of him as soon as a clicks order now because now he's ready for a purchase.

      Bryan,

      This is correct!

If you put something in front of a person who just finished paying for it he most probably won't buy it. Put it in front of him as soon as a clicks order now because now he's ready for a purchase.
I don't agree with Mohammad's logic - People who have just paid for something are much more likely to pay you again as they are in buying mode and their credit card is still out! They are in heat!! It's easier to convince someone who has already bought from you than someone who hasn't.

      It should be:

sales page => CB Payment => oto => CB Payment => oto => download = Special Offer or Fast Action Bonus on download page.

      I've tested this fairly extensively....

Here is just a couple of examples:

I've ran oto for customers who had just bought my 4 PART DVD Set for £67 and right after they paid their £67 through 2checkout or Paypal they were directed to a oto for a collection of Master Resell Rights products I was selling for £57 and it converted at 20%.

Another example was a monthly membership site where we set up a nothing down free trial for the first 7 days and then £28 per month thereafter. After setting up there delayed Paypal subscription they were directed to the oto that sold for £47 and it converted at 12% from people who had only made a delayed commitment.

      Hope this helps!

A works the best but you missed one more opportunity. Here it is:

    C:

Sales Page >> OTO >> ClickBank >> Another OTO >> DL Page

And also on DL Page you can list other offers (your own or affiliate offers) just after all the download information is finished. I always use this strategy + many well known Gurus and it works like a charm.

    What about:

    Sales Page >> OTO >> OTO >> OTO >> OTO >> OTO >> OTO >> Check Out Page >> OTO >> OTO >> OTO >> Download page.
