I am a little angry...

On one of my sites i am promoting this clickbank product.

The target vendor site in question seems to be down for the whole weekend already, i dont even know for how many days. Talk about decrease in sales! That's BAD.

I might sit down and write a script which somehow tests vendor pages, and in case the target site doesnt respond would automatically switch to another banner/offer. Does something like that actually exist?

    That really sucks!

Have you emailed the vendor and told him that he needs to get his F****** site up because you're sending him some fricking buyers.

    Hi George,

Not sure if it exists already or not but it doesn't sound like it would be hard to
    replicate via programing!

    Good ideal!

    Have a Great Day!

I've had this exact same problem a couple of times! It is unbelievably annoying, i always try emailing but get no response. Makes you want to stop promoting their product - however after having spent months building links etc that is not an option and they probably know it.

That's why I cloak almost all my links -- so I can change the redirect on the fly whenever I want. I can put a bazillion links out there promoting ABC Widget and if I want, in about 4 seconds I can have all those existing links pointing to XYZ Widgets.

Link cloaking - don't do business without it.

PS - I recommend my own Sonic Sneak as the best option for that. =

There is a service that does this, and it's 100% FREE!

Clickbank monitor (Not an affiliate link)

I've been using them for a while.

They send you an automated alert whenever a vendor page is not accessible.

You'll be surprised at just how often vendor sites go down .....

      Hope this helps

geez.. That really sucks. I can't imagine my vendors' site being down and missing out on all the profits.

If that's the case, I would quickly switch my offer to another vendor's program and promote heavily on that.

Not sure if there's such a script yet. Not many vendors' site went down. There are also other circumstances which you might look out for. like the site being attacked by virus or malware.

Rosalind Gardner (Super Affiliate Handbook author) had a free video (youtube?) showing how to bypass the vendor's sales page and link directly to the order page. Maybe you can find it via Google. It may have been for Clickbank products only.

    Reasons to do this:
    1. The sales page has a prominent link to become an affiliate
    2. The sales page has poor copy
    3. The sales page has "leaks" such as other links or distractions which would cause you to loose sales
    4. Your example--the vendor's site is down.

Since you are already doing a presale, you can add more copy (or, with the vendor's permission, use part of his graphics and text to create your own sales page) and have that link directly to the order page. (If the order page is down too, I'd complain to Clickbank and the vendor. Imagine if you were paying big bucks to advertise!)

PS: How many products do you promote? You could probably have a simple script that checks that each of the sites is up that you run twice a day.

    Good luck!

I just learned that I am unable to use another tool for this weekend from May 1 through May 3 because they are recognizing it is "International Labour Day." Such a delay is an inconvenience because now I have to wait until May 4 to utilize that. Perhaps that is the reason why your vendor is down?

that's the downside of affiliate marketing... some things aren't within our control... it's best you redirect your link to another offer then...

While I understand everybody's frustration, for crying out loud folks, stuff
happens. Servers crash. Hosting companies go down. Hell, during a storm
about 4 or 5 years ago, the whole southern part of the US was down.

Give the guy a break. I'm sure he doesn't want to be down any more than
you want him to. After all he is losing sales too.

      Sheesh.

hey! the whole south wasnt down, just the coast and most of mississippi

i think the worst is when you do a mass mailing and right about the time that everyone is opening and trying to click through the vendor page goes down

This happened to me years before when I was using PPC to drive traffic to the sale pitch without knowing it was already down... The worst thing is they continue to ignore my request to install google analytics snippet code into their sales page to get some statistics....

wrote a simple one of those in excel a few years ago to check if the site is responding. fire a pm if you want a copy.

It will run through and check a heap of domains at any time but it wont change out the URL, you would need to have a cloaked link as above or a redirected / masked domain name. so if a page was down you would just swap it out.

George - quite some time ago I saw a server side program that sends people to another site if the first site is not working. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of it, but I thought you might want to know something is out there, or was anyway.

Use them to fund your own product creation. In addition to them, write them a "nicely" worded letter about how you shall now switch to promoting their competitors products.

Sh*t happens, and one must be understanding of that. But treating your affiliates this way...isn't acceptable.
