Can you list some 5-10 basic ways to clean up a WP installed blog, on our own domain,

Ie,

1- delete the 'hello Dolli' plugin
2- Alter the Header + footer (perhaps)
3- Remove the "Hello World" first post.
4- Get rid of "Blogroll" and replace it with a your own keword tag "your niche Keyword" etc?

can you list some other ways to change the default WP settings for your own use, so that it looks clean...

You can do custom installs by installing wordpress (not using an installer like simple scripts or fantastico) from the package provided at wordpress.org.

Basically install wordpress and do all the base customizations. Like removing unwanted posts, links, etc.

Then install the bare minimum plugins that will be common to all of your installations.

Update all of those plugins to the latest versions.

Download all of those files to your computer.

Export the mysql file from phpmyadmin.

Now you have a quick install of wordpress. Just upload the files and import the db and you will be good to go.

I think it all depends on what your doing to the site, but based on what your listing your just asking what stuff that come with the basic install should you remove. And I believe you pretty much hit all of them. I would make a regular set of plug-ins that you use and have a notepad or something with them written on so you can save yourself time trying to remember the ones you want on your blogs, otherwise, its all dependent on what your doing.
