If I want to sell my own items on my website..

Do I need to have a business account or can I just pay the minimum for a personal account?

I searched for the answer but came up short on the info.

Thank you much, Denise

Where are you thinking of setting up an account? If you're referring to Paypal, I believe it's free to set up a business account. It was when I signed up with them anyway, years and years ago.

I would just take the time to make a business account, seeing as it's free on Paypal.

Though I don't really mind if products I buy are not on a business account..

What I'm saying is there really isn't that much of a difference.. if you buyer likes your product that much he/she is going to buy it.

Yep, Dennis is right if you're referring to Paypal. I converted my account from Personal to Business a while back, there was no charge, and they're both charged the same fees. However, Business allows you to set up Paypal buttons and gives you lots more options.

You can get a tradename - I was able to do this when I started years ago, and got it from the local town hall for a whopping $5.

I could then take that notarized card they gave me, and go to the bank where my bank opened a second account for me - a business account and they had a special so if I'm not writing checks and doing all electronic stuff, the account is free.

Then, I was able to open a business account with paypal, and verify that it was a business. I could get the debt card for that account, so payments coming in could be accessed immediately.

What is nice is I have a personal paypal and the business one - so things don't get too muddled at tax time.

I am still not sure what the question is. But yes you can use paypal, or ejunkie. those are for the checkout.

    Hello Denise

You can convert from the basic PayPal account where you just buy instead of sell. You can upgrade to a premium account for nothing. You will have to have a bank account as well as a credit card on file with PayPal so that you can accept payments.

With .info sites costing less than $1 from Godaddy when they have a sale; couple that with free hosting and you could have few websites up in no time at all.

What is the product you want to sell just in case I can help you with a website.
