Youtube has been making so many changes lately its hard to keep up.

This article talks about Youtube's plan to let you rent your videos out to monetize them:

      I agree with you that this has lots of potential...

      The big question will be if the "Youtube mindset" can be overcome...Most people currently equate Youtube with free content.

      It'll be interesting to see if they can make the mental switch in the mind of the users.

        That only matters if you are just focusing on organic traffic.

        Also there are tons of educational content channels on youtube where people have been upselling their viewers on purchasing premium content like dvds.

        It also may be a cool tool for people who are seeking drm and referring their own clients since it is a rental management application.
