Hi guys - Can anyone point me to a free or low cost tell-a-friend script on my blog. Ideally I would like one that would actually email the friend info on the individual blog post being read - I use Wordpress. As well as a general "tell a friend" script that I could just have at the top of my site. Any ideas anyone? Thanks John |

You might want to be careful with Tell-A-Friend scripts...

Because they walk a fine line with spam... I don't say it is spam, but some people may "confuse" it with spam and get you into trouble with you host. If you use sharethis you won't have any trouble, but if you use your own script you might want to save the sender's details, make them agree to some terms that shift all liability from you, add a captcha to prevent any spam bots submitting, set a limit to how many friends might be emailed at once, and how often one IP+cookie combination may submit the form. That's what I'd do if someone badly wanted me to create a TAF script for them. Now I have a few other ideas to create a tell a friend script that will keep you absolutely safe spam-wise, but it's more complicated and might have some other issues. |

^ I've tried that myself but it doesn't guarantee that it will be read. I've found one that is time bounded. If a the 2 receivers do not click on the link for example within 24 hours, the one sender will not receive the bonus that is promised. However, I have not used it yet. But I will after studying how to install it. |

I have used Paul Galloway's Tell A Friend Pro in the past and had a easy time of it. Don't Get Any Web Referral or Tell-a-Friend System Until You See Everything This Powerful New System Can Do For You!. Have heard good things and Paul is a brilliant programmer, so if you need to customize it, he can get it done right away.

most tell a friend scripts now require the sender to use their e-mail address. The one i use mainly was free and sends me a copy of all e-mails sent with the senders ip address. a good place to look is Hot Scripts :: The net's largest PHP, CGI, Perl, JavaScript and ASP script collection and resource web portal lots of free scripts to use covering all uses. |
