Wordpress themes and adsense

I have assumed that any theme I get for Wordpress will be compatible with adsense....that I will just have to get an adsense plug-in, and I'll be able to put adsense on my Wordpress site.

But I'm getting this uncomfortable feeling that maybe my assumption is wrong...that it's not going to be that simple.

Any comments?

    Hi Catherine,

I've been using a plugin called Advertising Manager. It allows you to add different ads including adsense, give them a name and include the ads either within posts and/or pages and within widgets.

So as long your theme is widget ready you should be able to use this one.

    Cheers,

    Hi Catherine,

most Themes are prepared for adsense and if they are not you can find good plugins for wordpress that enables you to place a widget in the sidebar. But if you would like for adsense to show in the middle of the content etc. Focus on finding a theme that is prepared for adsense. There are so many free themes out there so if you look around for a while you will find one that fit your needs.

I looked for a loooooong time for one but ended up buying one instead. Sure it was $50 but along with it I get support and an active forum that answers my questions.

I'm from Sweden so my spelling might be a little off.....

    Good luck!

    Regards

    Jute

    Hi Catherine,

I myself, use the Whydowork Adsense plugin. It's an easy, straightforward plugin where you just need to add your adsense code and link it to a certain place on your blog (post, pages, ...)

I haven't come accross a theme that couldn't work with it actually, so you might want to look into that.

I personally use the plugin "adsense injection". so as you can see there is many options and maybe you should just try another plugin if one doesnt do the trick for you.

Please, enlighten me what is a theme "compatible" or "prepared" for adsense...?

You can place your adsense code(s) anywhere in your theme - be it by plugins, widgets or simply copy/paste.

You have themes where the adsense code is already put in place and you only need to add your publisher ID in a certain file. That's what I call an adsense prepared theme. Compatible, well, like you said, they all are

      Thanks, everyone.

I have a much clearer picture now of how this is going to work, and I feel more encouraged.

I will check out all the suggestions.
