Wondering how to sell my new product. Need advice.

Hi,
Thanks guys for your time and great answers everytime I ask something here. I really appreciate them. I'd like your help again. Thanks in advance.

My new product is ESL related and it comes with 60 minutes audio and transcript and explanation of grammar, vocab, idioms etc. Let's say this combination of audio(mp3 file) and the written explanations of the audio (PDF files) "1 set".

I have 10 sets.
They are not related to each other so you can start with any set.

The question I have now is how to sell them.
My options I can think of is....

(a)Sell it separately, say, like $29 each
(b)Sell it in a bulk, like $197 for 10 sets
(c) the combination of (a) and (b)
(d)Monthly subscription (like a backlink pocket)
(e) Auto responder style (send 1set/month from the start every month.. 1st month ->set1. 2nd month -> set2. 3rd month set3 until it's finishes at set10)

I can think of pros and cons for each and am not sure what to start up with.

The most difficult part for me about (d) is that I have to keep making a set every month after the 10th month, but it is possible.

Also, I am not sure if there is a system which allows me to do (e).

Thanks for your advice

PS
I understand that I have to test it on my own and there is no "absolute" answer for this. But if you don't mind I'd like your opinion and I'd like to know if there is a better way in general or possiblly "proven" way of selling better.

I would do option (d) price it out monthly so it exceeds the amount you determined you would sell it at options (a) or (b).

Offer a discount if they pay for all 10 sets up front (essentially option b)

you do not necessarily have to offer additional months, everybody's subscription ends after 10 months.

You could always use the next10 months to develop an Advanced Course, and or an Expert Course and sell them at a "discount" to your current customers.

Why not do them all? Seriously. Offer each individual set for $29 while offering the entire 10 set package for $197. Allow visitors to pick and choose from individual sets.

At the same time you're doing this, set up a "Fixed Term Membership" (a la Membernaire) using Aweber (autoresponder) to deliver one set per month for ten months, also at $27 per month.

When the ten months are up, you could "graduate members" to advanced ESL programs (yours that you create or an affiliate's).

Doing "all of the above" would give you three income streams instead of one, and your visitors could get your products they way "they" would like to receive them. One off purchases, one-per-month membership, or a packaged deal.

    Hope this helps,

    Tina

  • Honestly in the long run it would be better to have a monthly option for customers to purchase because you would be able to increase the exposure for your specific brand. A couple different options that you could do if you went to a monthly subscription would be to provide additional grammar exercises or even readings that would improve their language. It could be a system where they learn the language intensively and then after they can use your system to brush up on their speaking skills. Also you could promote another affiliate program once your 10 sets are up if you don't want to create any more products. But, in these days it is very easy to outsource that work and you should have enough income to invest in outsourcing after ten months of membership fees.

In addition, it is possible to use an auto responder to deliver your products. Here is how:

    1. Set up a sales page
    2. Direct to paypal
    3. Set up autoresponder to deliver your files
    4. Have paypal redirect to a thank page where an opt-in box is located
    5. Have the auto responder deliver all ten programs

I would recommend using Aweber but there are several more autoresponders that you can use.

But, you should really do the membership option because of the residual income potential.

Hope I helped. Have a good day!

I just wondered how it works with the monthly subscription.
Because, if they cancel the subscription in the middle, the autoresponder still keeps sending the files (or e-mail with the link to the product).

To avoid this, you have to somehow connect the paypal subscription information with the autoresponder. Is it possible?

If I just use the paypal subscription, I can send the bulk-email to every subscriber once a month, but that will be the same file. (so after 10 month I will have no files unless of course I make new ones)

      Thanks

      (edit)
I think I'll open a new thread for this. Thanks.

    Ikuret,

It would have been an easier question if you would have said you had already done some market research, isolated hungry buyers, and have some traffic stats on keywords related to your product... and were then asking how to develop your product.

Do you have any info on keywords you could target?

Do you have any info on how many searches for those keywords are done monthly?

Have you checked out competitor's products?

Well, on to your questions. I wouldn't tend to go with any kind of monthly subscription type of thing if you want to keep people on board for 10 months or more. That can be a tough thing to do. A lot of people loose interest after 3, 4, 6, 8 months and will unsubscribe.

I might opt to drive traffic to your site and offer one lesson free in exchange for people opt-in in to your list. Grow your list and market to it religiously. Give your list subscribers free tips on English every week or so and put links in to your site where they can order.

If your material is good, I'll bet you can convert a lot of your subscribers into buyers.

What age level are your target customers? Have you thought about marketing your product to schools? There are regions in the U.S., notably in the SouthWest, where the majority of students in public schools come from families where English is not the primary language spoken at home. Just a thought.

    Good Luck! Mike

    Thanks everyone!
    I have more/better ideas now.
I'm so glad I asked here. Thanks again.

As for the product/market research, I have been selling this product as my bonus and back-end product in Japan, and they are very popular. I did some experiment to sell it as front end (in this case I sold only 1 set by $30) and it also sold well, so I decided to make more sets and sell it as a front end product, and also in the English market. (with some modification i.e. change explanation in Japanese to English)

I was "iffy" if this will sell in English market (to sell ESL product in English is a bit tricky), so I asked here about that, and most of the replies were to "Go ahead!", and I have now decided to go ahead and doing the modification.

    Anyway, thanks for great ideas!
