Need help finding a script...

Hi all. Hope you're all well versed in membership scripts, because I need one. Preferably a free solution, because if it is a paid solution I'll have to put the project on hold for awhile...

Site is simple. Member forum inside, content (articles, downloadable reports, a downloadable graphic) and maybe a video or two. Newsletter, sent bi-weekly (so I need AR support, either third party or internal doesn't matter).

Here's the tricky part, and why I was looking at Joomla (but it is ridiculously hard to use) - I need a directory, or classified ad system that ONLY members can post in and they can only post once, but non-members can view it without having to join any kind of "free" membership. Just click a link, and view.

Need setup fee + monthly fee, and an affiliate system that can pay out ONLY the setup fee (100%) and not the monthly fee.

Anything? Anyone? I hope I'm not asking for the moon here, although I fear that may be what's happening... If anybody has done something similar, or looked for something similar, or uses something that can do all that, let me know.

I'd prefer open-source so I can modify it as needed... Drupal, Joomla, php-Nuke, Mambo, etc might all work I just don't have time to test them all so I'm looking for your experiences.

There's a few out there, and you'll pay maybe 75.00 a month once your set up. I'd search google.You might find some for less and a few for more. Prices vary, just look around.

Have you thought about Wordpress? People can setup accounts, you may be able to use a plugin like Role Manager to block people out from posting more than once... and visitors will still be able to see the pages.

Hadn't really thought of Wordpress - the site is more user-driven content than blog-type content, thats why. Forum, newsletter, directory, and another feature I'm not at liberty to divulge but it doesn't involve regularly updated content.

It may work though - how does forum integration work with Wordpress membership sites. Has anybody tried?

Not sure exactly how forum integration works... but I know that it can happen, potentially even free.

Actually, you should check out BuddyPress A Wordpress MU Based Social Network Platform - it's a social networking add-on to Wordpress MU (a special version of Wordpress... it's all free still)

I'm not sure if it has everything, but take a look at Plone CMS: Open Source Content Management
Seems to be a lot of addons/plugins that may make this work for you.

I've not used it, just had it in my bookmarks.

Hi,

There are free solutions on the market - Locked Area Lite is one that comes to mind.

If you are using a Forum (I use vBulliten) - there are often ways of password protecting parts of it.

I am not aware of any free solutions - except perhaps a restricted version of AMember that will handle affiliate tracking.
