Starting with nothing?

Hi all, I hope this is the correct place to ask for help.

I have tried marketing various bits and pieces until recently starting my own (amazon) astore for books I have written a few articles on ezine and have a blog about books I like.
Is there anything else I should do? I have been trying for a year on all sorts and have so far made nothing.

I probably am not hugely suited to online marketing but due to health reasons I cant seem to get any other job so all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Shan

Affiliate marketing is what I do and I have no qualms recommending it to you. With affiliate marketing you do not have to develop your own product nor do you have to worry about payment processing and setting up your merchant website or account. You just basically promote products and when people buy through your links you get commissions.
You can take a look at our free Affiliate Marketing Lessons to help you get started.

understand that if you're relying on books to make money from amazon, you need to sell a lot a lot of them!

amazon commissions are between 4-10%... if you're selling a $20 book, that equates to $0.80 to $2 of commissions per sale.

If you want to make like $100/day then you have to sell more than a hundred books...

Maybe you want to focus on the more expensive items in amazon...

That said, amazon has a 24 hour cookie whereby if the person buys anything, those items are also counted as sales to you..

You'll be better off promoting things that have complementary products... eg a DSLR camera where the person is likely to buy additional lenses, batteries, tripod etc... rather than books...

Just my 2 sense (pun intended)

If you want to make a good earning by sitting at home, online money earning is the best method of all.
There are many techniques for earning money in internet. You can earn great deal of money by submitting articles on Ezine and properly optimizing the articles.
You can submit the same article by simply rewriting it and submitting it in several article directories. You can backlink to your Amazon store from this articles and create inter and self backlink among the articles. It has many advantages.
It will increase the traffic to your site with less effort and have a growth in sales. And the articles will also add some extra income to your account through advertisement by Google AdSense and similar advertising tool.

Affiliate marketing is not particularly glamorous, but you can earn a nice living as an affiliate. The important things to consider is to make sure that you have good products to market, and that you have solid marketing methods because without traffic, you aren't going to make much money.

There are many methods of generating inexpensive and free traffic; however, they are tedious and they may take a bit of time before they start to work. Start with a couple of traffic generation techniques, and continue to work those. It will definitely take some patience and persistence, but it will start to work if you keep doing it. For example, articles are great, but you need to be consistent with submitting your articles.

Also to Chris sorry I'm not working at all and I dont feel knowledge-able about much except for Migraines but I believe theres already a lot of advertising for that already.

            Thank You all.
Who cares that there is a lot of advertising for that? People are always looking for natural cures and new cures, and if you have some information that may help someone you should definitely give this some thought. I do believe I came across a clickbank product - an ebook for migraine solutions.

Eventually everyone want's page one for their website, but you don't have to be on page one to get traffic, and you don't need to be there to make money either.

You having personal knowledge on the topic makes it an easy sell for you.

    Hello there.

You need to concentrate on generating traffic to you blog. Traffic is very important if you want to make money online. NO TRAFFIC, NO BUSINESS.
I find one of the best ways to generate traffic is by submitting articles but there are many more ways. Keep your blog constantly updated. This way whenever someone visits, they will find new content this increasing the chances of the customer coming back to your blog again and again.

I'd echo some of the opinions shared here as well. What I would suggest is pick one specific niche and work on JUST that since it sounds like you currently have a day job as well.

I would suggest you start something around a topic you're already very knowledgeable about.

There are lots of other stuff you can do! Did you submit your feed(s) to feed directories, your site to direcetories, your article to more article directories?

Have you created Squidoo, Blogger, Wordpress, Hubpages pages yet? Have you promoted the stuff using Yahoo Answers, signatures, ad swaps, ezine ads?

Have you bookmarked the pages, articles, blog? Work on it every and you'll see the results, that's sure!

I cant recommend you go with Amazon to be honest. If your selling really expensive items it may be worth it bit for products around $30 its not worth it.

Your better off going with a different affiliate network that pays more commission or even try Adsense.

For example I normally make a certain amount per month in Amazon, but with using Adsense Ive made that same amount in the first 5 days of the month!

    Hi,
If you want to sell your own ebooks I don' t think Amazon by itself is the best way to do it. As others have already said, you will just receive a low commission for each sale.
You can sell your products using clickbank. That way, besides having affiliates that will promote your products in exchage for a comission (50-70% is a good deal), you can sell them directly.
You will have to build a sales page and get traffic to it using articles, email, PPC, or your own blog.
Focus on writing a good sales copy and generate traffic to it. As always, getting traffic is the hard part. But if you work hard on it, you will.

    Good luck!

The quickest way I've found to make cash is through promoting instant commission affiliate products, most with programs that use the RAP script. You get paid directly into your paypal account and there are products available in many different niches. You could mention them in your blog, write articles about your favorites, etc. Good Luck!
