okthe challenge is on

I work with a client who has one owner who believes in IM,and a whole marketing department who doesn't

I have been given a challenge - to prove it can drive traffic at little or no cost to a new website of theirs.

Plan?
1. set up a blog
2.write squidoo lenses
3.article marketing
4.press releases
5.facebook group
6. start a twitter following relatingto it (it would fit the twitter demographic)

so...what else can I try?
I have about six weeks toprove myself
and I'll not want to expend piles of dough

PPC! Test which keywords that convert and then build a site. SEO, PPC, Article Marketing, Video Presentations, PDF Reports, Build a Mailing List & Launch stuff to it

PPC? So you are saying you think I should PAY?
That goes against my whole LOW COST thing that I mentioned up there

I am going to try do a YOU TUBE video

    Think that would be ACE!

      RESEARCH. RESEARCH. RESEARCH.

This is one of the most overlooked methods...Similiar to traditional marketing, you must know set yourself a goal and then work backwards.

Find out what/who you want to target. Research to see what traffic there is and what keywords are most popular.

There are many free tools available. i.e. adwords.google.com

you can search by categories, keywords, or reverse selection by placing a competitors url in.

From here you can kind of see what traffic volumes are for the keywords. Pick out ones that you think are related to your topic and then actually google them to see what type of sites appear.

PPC will build you fast traffic but it will have a high bounce rate and leave your pocket book empty if not done correctly.

check out article sites...do a google on ezine articles or go articles.

Get an account on twitter, facebook, etc...

Keep in mind that Youtube viewers want to be entertained and not educated when posting videos.

Having good content will also attract quality visitors. Keep it simple and informative. I believe the standard is to have 400-500 word articles.

Sorry for the scatter brained thoughts but I am out of time for now.

      Good luck

Article marketing supercharged by Web 2.0 sites with a mix of video is a killer cocktail when it comes to traffic generation. It takes effort but it works!

Add Press Releases to the mix, the problem is the good ones cost around $1,000 (Full Visibility PRs including offline Associated Press content) and you can even embed video in them. Those drive thousands worth of targeted traffic per day if done right.

Tell the guy to fire his entire marketing department and hire me with a small budget and I'll do wonders for him. What kind of a marketing team does he have that doesn't believe in IM pffft.
