Disclaimers? Disclaimers! Disclaimers.

I notice many times someone answers a question, they'll preface with some kind of disclaimer, "this isn't to be construed as legal advice..." or, "I'm no lawyer, but...", or "..but still, you should check with your attorney.", and so on.

How necessary is that?

I mean, when someone comes to Warrior Forum, for example, isn't there something implied that this a forum for internet marketers to share experience, and advice, with one another, and that any info given, or shared, in that regard is just that... info shared amongst like-minded people?

Do we need to always be doing the equivalent of warning the potential winners of "The Darwin Awards" that plugging a toaster and radio in while taking a bath can hurt them? How important is that? And how often do you think/worry about it as you journey throughout the IM Universe?

Anyone who asks a legal question here is already disregarding the good-sense rule that you should seek legal advice only from an attorney.

So a disclaimer is a useful reminder that while someone is sharing their non-professional experience or beliefs about a legal situation, the person asking the question should not actually rely on it if anything important is at stake.

It's also a useful good-sense protection for the person who unwittingly happens to give really awful advice that causes great harm to the person who takes the advice.

Including the disclaimer shows that you understand this whole dynamic and are not just shooting off your mouth.
