I take those things with a grain of salt. They don't have a complete picture of earnings, for one thing. I'd be willing to bet that Allen would laugh if someone offered him only half a million for this place.

Unless he has a day where he's fed up with the headaches, that is...lol.

There is no such thing as an "accurate" domain name appraisal. There are SO MANY other factors to consider that are not incorporated into the "guesstimate". It may be worth 10 million to the right buyer. It's all relevant to the revenue being produced and future potential.

    Look at this number:

    Daily Ads Revenue: $1,240.05

I wonder how they calculate that one?

Where did they get that 5 cents from?

At least that number should be divisible by 20.

"Guesstimate" three pages of WSO's per day. Ignoring Classifieds, For Hire, Website For Sale, War Room Subscriptions, and JV's, that's still $3000 per day.

    Not accurate.

(Unrelated thought: I suspect Allen took a 30%+ short-term hit on WSO fees by taking the high road with rule #7. Would you give up $1000 per day on principle? I have a great deal of respect for one who would.)

It's a sad, sad joke. Not accurate at all. It evaluated one of my sites as worth half of what a single sale generates.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

It says my wine site is worth $500 give or take. It's interesting because it is looking at not only traffic and daily ad revenue, but backlinks and site age.

I don't think it would be able to take into account the amount of fees generated by something along the lines of WSO's....or my wine club sales.

Pretty interesting stuff, even if I'm not sure how accurate or relevant it really is.

No. These tools aren't accurate. Even a new domain with less backlinks, and duplicate content is rater "worth thousands".

That number is total bullcrap. This forum is the premier forum for Internet marketing...the best online. To think it would be worth a piddly $500K is laughable.

There's the ad revenue, there's the sheer number (and quality) of people who hang out here, plus there's the name (brand?) recognition that this forum has. If you could find a "Warrior Forum" in another niche selling for only $500K, it might be wise to snap it up ASAP!

  • Even if that's true, its a poorly drawn "guesstimate" based only on an adsense revenue basis. Do they know how much this forum makes via WSOs, War Room memberships, and all other premium memberships/services? Can they calculate the intangible value associated with being the best forum on the Internet for IM? If you add all these up, wonder what the number is...

A script could do a proper evaluation, but it would actually have to solicit a number of variables from both the owner and 3rd party sources that track traffic, keyword searches, ranking of individual pages for various keywords, etc. The owner would have to provide profit figures, revenue, operational costs, etc. But no such script exists.

Besides this site probably does $150k per month in ad revenue alone. That is nearly $2 Million per year. $500k is an insult offer. The site's value is $5 Million at a minimum.

I checked the value of a couple of my sites and compared it to the site's actual earnings.

Fat chance of getting me to sell my site for the prices they're quoting (one or two month's income exceeds the price they value the site at).

Any site that is producing revenue beyond just advertising is going to be worth a whole lot more than their quotes.

So yes take the quotes with a grain of salt.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

You know I wouldn't put too much faith in this calculation. I would be shocked if Warrior Forum is worth so little I'd say it's worth $XX million, but some of this is opinion..

I agree with above post that Bigger websites are worth higher multiples of earnings & traffic because of the profit amounts buyer eventually gets

I am guessing this site is worth at least 3-5 Million based on the current estimated revenue, and you could probably find someone who would pay more then that.

    $3K a day X 365 = $1,095,000. Most people these days are paying 2.5 X yearly gross revenue.

What a nice little investment this site was.

True enough 2.5 is the going factor. However this is a social networking site with the best in the game for members.

Due to this factor alone I think it's worth closer to 6-7 times its annual revenue.

I noticce usually the trend with these sites they high ball smaller site worths and the site worth for larger sites is lower than its actually worth. It's hard to make it accurate cuz each niche generates different level of income..

I don't know where that thing gets its numbers - but it says my site has 3500 daily visitors (not even close) and $12 in daily ad revenue. I have no ad revenue - just subscription revenue.

The value is $4399.00 on that site. Not even close to a months revenue.

    So it means nothing.
