Cost to outsource ebook

How much would it cost to have a book written on xxx, assuming it was around 100 pages long? Anywhere I can go to see jobs posted and how much it cost the poster?

Thanks,

Jon

There are people who write for $2-3/page. There are others who write for $30/page (and more). Post your proposal with your budget (in the right place, of course) and you'll get more bites than if you don't mention your budget.

Why don't you try here for starters:

The costs will vary, of course, depending on the writer. As Curtis said, you can find people at $2 per page all the way to $xx per page (maybe more, I haven't found anyone though). So, it could start from $200 and go up all the way to $X,XXX or more.

You can start off with the Warriors For Hire section. Also, take a look at eLance, oDesk, etc. You may find something you want.

Pricing can also vary based on the topic. I wouldn't expect to have a 100 page book on particle physics completed at the same rate as a 100 page book on camping.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

i dont advocate outsourcing an ebook, im guessing that this ebook is going to be the staple of your business, either to build your list or to sell it as a product? if so you cant expect to outsource it and get the quality that you truly need for 2 dollars a page. Strap down and write it yourself no one truly knows your business like you do!

I have to wonder why you would say this. I personally write my own, but that is only because I am one of the greatest writers on earth and have a hard time delegating out anything that I can do better. With that being said, there is nothing wrong with hiring somebody to write for you. Name one publishing company that writes all of their own books. Some people are writers, some people are marketers, some people are both, and some people don't shower enough.

I have illusions of creating my own ebook publishing empire. I've written a few ebooks myself, but my fingers are tired. Bill Gates doesn't code his own apps anymore!

Rob, have you ever outsourced the writing of an ebook?

I think the best way is to go to Elance and search for people who do ghost writing.
Find some people who have already done some work and check their reviews.Pick out some who seem really good.

Then, search for the company's name (or whatever name they use for Elance) and you can get their website. And you can see how much they usually charge.

If you want their work put a job request on Elance, and invite them to your work. You might get cheaper rate for same quality of work.

    Hope it helps!

Here are a few suggestions that should help..

      1. Key to a top selling ebook is targeting, title, outline and angle you use to gain attention - as long as you focus on these, then outsourcing the research and writing can work very well.

      2. If you outline your ebook in the right way you can actually split your outsourcing projects into multiple projects, get better results and save a bunch of money doing it. We've done this for several ebooks

      3. Often we combine our own contributions and outsourcing so that the ebook has some direct personal experience and a personal "feel" to it as well as outsourcing other areas. For example, we recently wrote a book on an alternative therapy to a specific life challenge - the chapters dealing with background, history and details of the alternative therapy we outsourced while the treatment plan and results we contributed since we had been through the experience.

      4. Another decision you want to make is to go after an expert or authority to interview giving you content for part of your ebook. That way you get first hand expertise & outsource the rest.

For the book I used in this example, we wrote 3 chapters, interviewed some others who had been through similar experiences for 1 chapter (plus some audio bonuses), outsourced 4 chapters with two different outsourcers - total cost was $350 and about 1-week of our own time writing, another week of putting the finishing touches on the product + adding more bonuses.

So far the book is among the top 5 sellers in its category on Clickbank with great reviews.

We ghostwrite books. My advice to you is to be the expert, jot down the key points and any details that are important to be included in as organized a manner as possible. Then hire a pro to write.

You can go cheap if you want. We do have writers who will work for much less than "book" writers; but I much rather assign a pro to anyone writing a book. There is a difference in quality.

I know they are typically thought of for programmers but there are many good writers there as well.

Like what has been said the price will vary. Set a budget for yourself and get some bids. You may have to write some pages yourself to get to that 100 page mark or have a shorter eBook depending on what you can afford. Post the job on elance and get some bids.

I think it's best to look at these jobs as pay per word, this can be around $0.01 a word or so. I know this from article writing and it should be similar to e-book but e-book may cost more for all of it's layout perks, pictures and everything.
