Just because you can, should you?

I have noticed an ever increasing trend. Which seems, to me, to devalue internet marketing as a whole.

I am referring to price reductions of rights products (PLR, MRR, RR) to a point it is rediculous to even assume it may be of value.

My focus is on the warehouse type resellers, the ones who obviously belong to a membership or two, that post everything for $1-$3 or $4 each.

On one hand I think "it serves the lazy marketer right" if they take a PLR product and put it up as is to be undercut by the 'Walmart' approach of another marketer.

But really just because you can reduce the price of a viable, informative, useful product to $1 when it could easily command $47.... should you?

    A very good point,

And I would also add that if you see all the million dollar launches, most of the products prices are over a thousand dollars. That means lowering the price is not the only way to make a sale.

I used to sell private label medical equipment online. I did well for a long time. Then I doubled my prices and my sales increased by almost double.

Great observation. Reducing price is rarely the answer. If someone wants to haggle, don't reduce the price - add value instead.

Being a warehouse seller myself it really depends on the product and sales i hate reducing prices but it is at a point where you have to just to compete if i am selling a $37 product and someone else is selling it for a $1 who they going to buy from who would you buy from.

I think this problem is generated from the giveaways that are bombarding the net these days theres like several nearly everyday now all giving MRR and PLR products away. I believe its a fact that if you get something for nothing once and awhile it is a bonus you cherish the bargin. But if your getting stuff for free all the time it becomes dead and numb its no longer a great bargin but the norm automatic devalue of the product it is sad but true. I don't think memberships are the problem because for any valuable product you have to pay into a good membership site, free ones just give out super old products.
    That's my opinion anyway.

There will always be idiots who ruin the market for everything. Look at eBay, what a joke. Yeah, let's sell everything for 5 cents over cost, that's a great way to make money. Amazon.com too - I just bought a $30 book from one of their sellers for 1 cent and $3.99 shipping. After paying shipping he couldn't possibly have made more than 50 cents or so on the deal and that is just plain stupid - I hope he lost money on the deal, he deserves to. This is why I prefer to sell products that I've created myself, I don't want to have to compete with morons.

There are a lot of things in the world that we "can" do, but shouldn't. Devaluing a product down to basically nothing is one of them.

I didn't follow this completely but doing this is not smart business putting the price that low is hurting yourself more than helping consumer. You know there's a quote out there says "The consumer RARELY buys based on price" This is true. There is the psychology that what you get is what you pay for so why undercut yourself it is not good business imo

Thats a great point David add value.

And Brian I have heard others say the same, when they increased the price their sales increased.

Interesting concept, but I think we have all felt the question...Whats wrong with it if its so cheap?
