On-line Competitions + quizes??

I'm having a think about a on-line comp for a site selling watches, mainly as a way of generating interest and links. However I've never done one so I'd like to learn about how to set it up, not the programming the game it's self.

Such things as:-
  • How hard should it be?
  • What types are there?
  • How would I write one?
  • How long should it run?
How do I keep the Comper's + Comp sites off it, do I even want to keep them off?

I'd may be interested in doing a quiz, but how do I make it fun?

I'm sure there is info out there but I'd appreciate a pointer to the good stuff!

    Before you do anything, ask yourself, "Will this help me make more sales?" If you think hard and come to the conclusion that it will not help your sales, then scrap the plan and invest your time and money into an alternate marketing route.

      A good point but as I said I'm focusing on their use to pull links and get traffic as part of my promotional strategy.
