If it's the actual CAMREC file from Camtasia, and you have Camtasia, you can convert the video (called Produce in Camtasia) in many different formats.

Even if it's an AVI file recorded in Camtasia it can be converted to MP4 in Camtasia (at least if you have one of the latest versions of Camtasia... I believe MP4 didn't used to be a conversion option until a couple of years ago.)

  i'm using camtasia 7. to save it as an mp4 just save it with the "Web" or "blog" option and click next. done.

AVI files are some of the easiest files to work with when doing video. In fact, Camtasia won't work with a .mp4 file unless the codec is H.264 or similar.

And since Camtasia easily produces videos in .mp4 format even though it has a hard time importing them, you should not be having a problem at all.

Camtasia natively supports exporting recording TREC files to MP4 format.

Here is a step by step guide on how to convert Camtasia files to MP4, AVI, MOV, etc.

It says:

Import TREC into Camtasia first. You will see the RREC files are in the Clip Bin and the Timeline in "Project Edit" Window. Then click "File" > "Save Project" to save the project file. Click the "Produce and Share" button above the Clip Bin area to launch the production wizard. Expand the menu to see a list of production options. There you can select MP4 format for output.

To convert Camtasia files to mp4:
In camtasia, click on (produce and share) and select MP4 from the menu.

Did you check with the Video converter apps? such as anyvideoconverter or, xilisoft? These two apps provide free of cost apps. Thanks
