Starting a NEW Affiliate Product

I'm into the next phase of my affiliate marketing strategy and that means time to build and market my own product. I wanted to see if anyone can post some good tips about how to go about it in terms of where is the best place to sell the product like CB, Never Blue, Commission Junction...? What type of product would be good to start with? Resources for creating the product?

Any and all tips would be much appreciated so thanks in advance.
