IMC is selling off Corey Rudl's old Website

Today, I sit in a puddle of tears, surrounded by my computers...

As I read of sad news.. IMC is selling carsecretsrevealed.com... The website that gave so much to this community... Sure if your a newbie, you don't know... But if you're a veteran online marketer, this is surely wild news...

An excellent opportunity for someone, no doubt.... I don't mean to attack, but I really wish the legacy could have remained a stale old website that remained a strong example of amazing sales copy. It had aged beyond an easily recoverable business.... BUT...

That copy had a lot to teach people about selling by fax, mail and electronic purchase when it comes to copy and wording...

Competition Demolition Blog Archive Corey Rudl Car Secrets For Sale

I wrote more about the legacy on my blog... not here to promote my blog though, but hopefully have a few others agree how sad it is to see this last piece of Corey remaining on the web (next to his surviving company The Internet Marketing Center) disappear... At least as we knew it... This was where ALL of IMC's original strategies, marketing ideas and tactics originated from... For those who read "Insider Secrets" version 1.0

OOh, too bad I quit drinking years ago.. I'm gonna go drown myself in Coffee....

    Yeah, all credit to Corey.

I remember purchasing car secrets revealed, just to get to grips with what he was doing.

    Sad.

I agree - a very sad day. Cory's legacy will live on in many of us. The IMC have no respect for their heritage.

THANK you for agreeing with me... AH... Nice to see the community views this loss of heritage the same way...

Truth is an email list with that age (they shutter down in 2008) will be pretty stale... and 1300 affiliates that haven't been able to promote the product for 2+ yrs won't be too useful... It's got an uphill battle to be a profitable business again...

They would have been better off to put a blackout on the home page of carsecrets.com, remove it from archive.org and sell the original book, salesletter and background stats as a package and say "This website, product and salesletter earned $600,000.."

Heck even I might have paid $49 for that package... Even though I've read the car secrets copy about 120+ times and glanced thru the book a few times.

Confused....a site is a site...and Corey (Rest in Peace) is long dead. I guess IMC are trying to move in a new direction?

Yah, just got the email yesterday. I got into the IMC much later but I hear Corey was pretty brilliant. I still think the IMC has some great stuff and I wouldn't have progressed at all in the IM world without them.

      Well,

Corey wouldn't object. He was a forward thinker and fast mover.

Still, for those of us who remember the old days, and the impact that product had on the market, it's a bit sad. Then again, maybe the new owner will inject new life into it.

I miss being able to pick up the phone and talk to Corey. It ain't right. It just ain't right.

The thing is, I remember him telling me about some really dangerous sounding racing stuff he did and I said, "Does that scare you? Isn't it dangerous?"

He didn't say much. That was how he lived his life All out.

I was looking through my old copy of "Insider Secrets" by Corey to see the original page to the site.

Pretty cool that he goes into the whole sales page and why he wrote what he did and how it persuaded from one paragraph to the next.

For anyone that wants to see the original Car Secrets Revealed web page, use the WayBack Machine

    Internet Archive Wayback Machine

You can read his original sales letter there.

p.s. Pay no attention to that counter reading "24", it has rolled over.

It's funny. Reading your thread, I went back to see what was so special about this guy.... I read his sales page, and I honestly must say, wow. I actually would have bought that. He really is good!

now I can understand how this is a sad day for you all.

@honestbizpro, the wedding marketing may have seemed like a good angle, but if you saw how it unfolded in the office, it would have blown your mind...

I guess he'd been mailing to the list for so long as "Hey, this is Corey.." and with such pizazz and enthusiasm that folks actually felt like they knew him. They said hi to him at events etc... So when He announced to the list that he was getting married..... Gez the secretaries were mad! We had flowers and gift cards and gifts and all kinds of stuff just cluttering the reception area....

You read now about marketing to the herd, but list relationship was much different at one time... And Corey truly wanted to help people... unlike some of the modern gurus...

@marlon - I think your right, he wouldn't have objected.. He'd probably be saying.. "Gez! You guys shoulda sold that thing ages ago when it was still hot!"

Just had to weigh in as Corey helped get my start as well. I was pulling in checks here and there when I was in my 20's thanks to his material. I have to say, this initial post is akin to the query of "when is it ok to marry again after a spouse has died?" The commonly held belief is that an adequate time of grieving and respect must be given in order for others to see the action as "acceptable." I think IMC waited the acceptable amount of time for this move to be made and I think it would be the wrong move to blame them for this action. It has already been said that Corey, being the marketer that he was, would probably have made a similar decision. What WE should do as true IM'ers is continue his legacy. Make our words count. Make our offers ones others cannot refuse, and SELL. In addition, give credit where credit is due. Those that are Rudl students should make certain his name is NEVER forgotten. HE...is a legacy, and should always remain so.

I respect the OP, but just think that IMC should not be blamed. This merely gives us a chance to reflect and make sure that WE carry the torch...
