Did I violate the rules?

Hey Warriors,

I posted a thread yesterday about looking for 15 people to review my training program at no charge in exchange for testimonials if they like the training program. But the thread was deleted soon after.

I looked in the forum rules but couldn't find anything that prohibits this kind of activity.

I did, however, linked to the sales page for my training program within the thread to let people know what the training program is about.

Maybe it's because of this that my thread was deleted?

Or maybe you just can't put up a thread asking people to review your product?

Why do you think my thread was deleted? Did I violate any rules? Any input is appreciated?

Thanks!
Welly

It's always been my impression that if you give someone something at no charge, their statement is actually a compensated endorsement - not a testimonial.

And I think technically, this is probably WSO territory. You're still offering a product for consideration, it's just a testimonial instead of a cash payment.

That would be the FTC's position as well, from what I can tell.

Posting your link was a mistake, but even if you didn't your thread may well have been deleted because of the behavior of others before you. Some have offered free training for feedback, only to hit them up with products they need to buy for the training. In other words, the free training was a ruse to sell them products.

Not saying you'd do that, just sayin'...

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

The only reason I asked why my thread was deleted was to learn from my mistake so that I don't repeat it in the future, not to protest that it was deleted.

Thanks also for your opinion on this.
