Google Analytics, need help please - RESOLVED

Have been reading through search results here on various threads about GA but none seemed to answer what is going to be my "stupid question of the week" post

Finally getting round to using GA (I am rubbish at this stats thing but know I need to get my head round it and learn it, so thought I would use GA).

I have successfully placed the code on one of my sites and patted myself on my back. Then moved onto another and this is where I need some guidance.

I have a domain with home page which is just a plain old html page and it really is just a landing page which links to two blogs I have, so like this:

www.mydomain.com - plain html page
www.mydomain.com/blog1
www.mydomain.com/blog2

One of the blogs uses the flexibility theme which has a place to put your GA code, so I put that there, the other blog I put the code (urchin) into the footer template.

[ I put urchin code basically because I didn't know any better LOL since doing search here for help I now know the difference ]

The index.html page I just added the code at the end, before the </body> tag via my ftp.

I would prefer to just be putting the GA code onto just the blogs but GA is not letting me do that, so I realized I had to use the main domain name.

The result is this from my GA dashboard after checking the code from there:

Tracking Unknown (Last checked: PST.)
The Google Analytics tracking code has not been detected on your website's home page. For Analytics to function, you or your web administrator must add the code to each page of your website
So I must have done this all wrong or something, anyone give me some pointers on what to try doing next or should I start over, if so, step by step on how to achieve this would be good if anyone has the time, also should I make sure I am using the other code not the urchin code, does that make a difference?

Thanks
Sue
