Suggestion for admin, Allen I think this would help...

Hi Allen, first of all thanks for this forum, I have learned so much from your forums over the years.

I had a thought that might help so many of the new people we have coming in regularly and remind some of us that have been around for a while. This would also unclog the forum from some of the same threads that we see over and over that have all ready been answered a dozen times.

Would it be possible to have a pop up window that comes up once a month. It would mention that to find many of the answers you might want, first check the search function or the all in one threads, and give the urls or instructions to get to those.

There is just so much here that many people never get through much of it. This would "train" the trainable ones to search first, then ask if they don't find an answer.

I think this might make it easier on the mods, with a bit less threads to wade through as well.

    Hey Jeannie, I think that sounds like a sensible solution. Unfortunately I do not know if it will ever work. Especially considering that the "majority" of newcomers do not even bother to read forum rules. I have noticed way too many people not only asking the same question that has perhaps been answered a dozen times, but I have also seen some ask questions that you can evidently tell the reason for their post.

    Now, do not get me wrong, I think you propose a good idea, I just do not think it will deter newcomers from NOT searching and POSTING the same thing over and over again. I think we can often tell which of the newbies will stick around for a long time just reading the way the question was asked. I dunno... May just be me, but I am not sure that will eliminate the plague (of lazy newbies or spammy ones...)

      Point taken Jenni. I think this would "train" the trainable ones to search first, then ask if they don't find an answer. We are still going to see this no matter what. But not as often or as much if this is implemented.

    Too many people fail to use the search function. I know I am guilty of it on many occasions. I wouldn't add a pop-up, but perhaps a sticky near the top of the Main Internet Marketing forums? Maybe a few of the better article writers here could throw something together describing to new-comers how to efficiently use the Search function. Great idea though, everyone should make use of the Search function when joining a forum like this one.

    Not to hijack your thread, but another idea could be adding a new forum specifically for people to look for Mentors; Or, for those looking to Mentor someone, a place where they can find people that are looking to learn similar styles of Internet Marketing?

      Hey Chris!

      lol. It is true. I don't come here as often as I used to.

      I have been spending time working on a couple sites. And then there is a lot going on in my life right now... sometimes a little bumpy, but hey, left foot, right foot and keep a good attitude. ;-)
