Can anyone tell me how to put in an opt-in popup on my website? I am using HostMonster and also WordPress. I am trying to find a way to generate leads. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi

Go into your Wordpress dashboard, select Plugins>Add New & then search (I use OptinPop - very good can set it as a timed entry popup or an exit popup) & then install right from within your WP Dashboard

    Simples

Why on the earth would you need a plugin for that?

Do you have an autoresponder account? If yes, most of them offer the optin form as a popup window (among other options). Set the frequency, # of shows etc. - copy the one line JS... and paste it in the index.php of your theme.

    Done.

Because there are a lot of people out there who aren't confident or comfortable with editing ANY type of code

Also, a default Autoresponder optin form is not usually very pretty & a lot of people prefer to 'pretty up' their optin form with some graphics etc on an html page for example

Lastly, the optin form/page might not be your own if you are affiliate marketing AND although this particular plugin is called 'OptinPop' it doesn't actually have to be an optin, it could be any other page you want (product offers, affiliate offers etc)

I have to use custom opt-in code as I have not yet found an autoresponder that would fully support UTF-8 characters. Aweber supports only English. Mailchimp claims that they support UTF-8, but all of the messages are hard-coded.

Also, with Mailchimp there is no way to forward to a thank you page, thus conversion tracking does not work.

Custom opt-in plugins are sometimes the way to go.

Personally I use a custom built opt-in form that is based on the same libraries as Awebers old lightbox hover code. I import the javascript from a .js-file. For back-end, I use pommo. For delivery I use Mailchimp.

Pretty complicated system, but this gives me really good visitor-to-subscriber conversion.

I like Robert Planks action pop - personally, lots of cool features

You could also get Bill McRea's WP exit pop

Use Aweber. It has a lightbox pop-up feature that is un-blockable.

You can go to the opt-in website and get the html for it and then add a text widget to your sidebar and copy and paste.
