SCAMMER!!!! - Thank you Scam Artist. You saved the financial part of my life.

Ok, the title might be a little misleading at first so keep on reading
it won't be a long post. I promise. In case it will be, I apologize.

I met someone today who is also an IMer. We went to a bar and
started talking about everything that is related to Internet Marketing.
Then we started talking about how we started and I told him that
if it wasn't for all the scam artits, I wouldn't be where I am today.
I wouldn't live in a nice house, I wouldn't have a nice car........

He then asked me:

So Toni, what do you mean by "SCAMMER!!!! - Thank you Scam
Artist. You saved the financial part of my life."

Has a scammer saved your financial life or what? YES.

What?!?! Scammers lie to you Toni. They promise you the world,
to get rich quick, to earn millions overnight but in the end you
just end up spending so much money for CRAP that doesn't even
work. And you are saying that one of those guys saved you?

YES. I said. And of course I had to explain this and the reason
why I am posting my explanation here on the forum is because
I think that a lot of us alsowouldn't be where they are if it wasn't
for these get rich quick sites we all hate so much.

Why? Ok let me start.

Like most people here I heard about affiliate marketing, adsense...
on the internet. I saw a youtube video, read an article, saw a
PPC ad........I had no idea what this whole thing is about.

But then I did it. I clicked on the link in the description box,
resource box, PPC ad... and there it was. BOOM!!!!!!!

Pictures of big houses, fast cars, money everywhere. I was
blown away just by seein all those pics. Then I started to read
that long sales letter and damn I was even more blown away. A
23 year old guy has all these things?!?! WOW, I thought.

Then the sales letter started talking about gurus that don't want
that the secrets that are about to be exposed get to the public.
And again I just thought "WOW". I imagined those gurus, thought
about old guys who sit in dark rooms with their computers, the
green light on their face and how they were trying to keep those
secrets secret.

And it all sounded so easy and so doable. But in reality I didn't
know nothing at all.

Heck, I didn't even know how to buy a domain and that you need
a host in order to create a website. Basically, I had zero idea about
the technical part of the internet. And I also didn't know that these
guys who are considered gurus are peole like Frank Kern or Jeff
Walker Guys who were accessile at webinars etc.

Ok, so did I bu that product at that time. No. Why? Because I
was too young. I had no bank account, no credit card, nothing.

But I started researching heavily. I am talking about coming home
after working 12 hours at a restaurant and doing research for 5 or
6 hours looking for that magic bullet.

I never found that bullet, because after weeks of research I started
to realise that it is harder then I thought it would be but I still had
all those images in my head. You know the houses, cars, parties...
And I wanted to live that lifestyle.

But the more I researched, the more complicated it got. I started
to hear about things like SEO, backlinks, quality score, google slap,
blackhat, whitehat, greyhat, on page and off page optimization,
cpa, calling cpa networks and so much other stuff. I was disappointed
and gave up.

But after a few weeks, these images of the scammy get rich
quick site appeard in my head again and they wouldn't go out.
Thisdream of a lifestlye like the one describes on that site it just
got me.

SO I started all over again and found forums and all of that stuff.

Now I am here. Thanking that Scam Artist. Because without of
his or her site I would never even bother to start with IM. This
was back in 2008.
If the first thing I would have discovered about IM was a serious,
instructional site I would have never started.

And I think that a lot of people experienced more or less the
same. No? We see all these great things on a get rich quick
sales letter and we just think: That's it and we start doing
research.

Or maybe I am the only one Well, I will find out on this thread
I guess.

By the way, I decided to buy the product last year. I was already
making money and it was just out of curiosity. And let me tell you:

IT WAS PURE BUL*****

But is was just such a great feeling to look at that side and think
about what I have achieved and how my perspectives and views
totally changed.

Sorry guys. It got a little long. But here I am screaming:

THANKS SCAMMER !!!

Yeah, there's lots of crap out there, but there's also tons of good products. The key is finding the ones that don't promise you the world for a nickle and that you'll never have to work again. IM is a valid business, you just have to treat it like one.

Nice description of the typical scammer sales letter. The products that promise the moon on a stick with virtually no effort ("...they run on autopilot...") and come with a massive price tag are the ones to stay away from, while others can teach you the same basic material for a reasonable sum.

oh, and when they start going on about their damn kids and wife and how many holidays they take....Jesus, and then they tell you, "50 people have already paid $3000 for this course but I'm virtually giving it away for $197"

Toni - I read your post with a smile on my face because it almost exactly describes how I got into IM. I am not there yet in terms of making a living from it but am getting there - but you are right, I would have never known about the possibilities without reading that first sales letter.....

I understand exactly where you are heading. Those captivating articles, pictures motivated you into starting a profitable business of your own. Many people came into the online like that.

There goes to tell us there is always a two sides to everything in this world. Positive and negative, ups and down.

    Nice story, man!

Mine is different. I stumbled upon those scam sites promising miracles, but then I spent my hard earned money on them and tried to use their systems to make some money (even if it was just a couple bucks). No need to say that I got a big 0$. However, I didn't give up, spent 2 years of my life trying and failing until the moment that I really figured out how people make money online and started some successful campaigns. In few weeks I was earning a full time income from home.

It seems to be simple, but it's not. It's hard to have no money in your bank account and still be persistent, keep struggling for your dream. So I understand why most people give up.

Nice to see other Warriors who experienced the same. I was sure that
I wasn't the only one. Just keep at it and you will make it soon.

Yes you will, if you stay focused and dedicated. Dedication is
everything. Not only in IM. But in almost every other area of life
where people try to be successful (sports....)

Yes, that's true. There is always two sides, positive and negitave.
Even if it sometimes look like there is only one side and no matter
how hard you try to see the other side but can't find it. There
      is always 2.

It is just that it's sometimes really hard to recognize it. At least that's
      what I experienced in life.

It is crazy right? I actually never looked at it like that myself. But
when we were starting this converstation last night after some beer
it really blew me away. I started to realise it and was pretty sure that
there were many other people that may experienced the but didn't
know. I had to make that post.
