i just found the above related post but im sure there IS a way to disable youtube to prevent clickthrough - but anyone know how? i dont really fancy doing what the above suggests as it would mean hosting the video separately.

i did find this link

Disable related videos on a embedded Youtube player | Varesano.net

which is helpful in providing some code to stop the related videos appearing at the end, but nothing to do with disabling the clickthrough....

any techies out there?thanks

PS: the video is for a salespage, so thats why i dont want people being redirected after clicking on it.

    Hi,

    Is there a reason you don't want to host the Video Separately?

    If it's a technical issue, I can walk you through (or create a tutorial video) on how to use something like Flowplayer to display the video on your sales page (it's as quick as using YouTube's embed code).

    This has a lot of benefits, including being able to control the Static image that's displayed before the video plays, or even auto-starting the video.

    I'm not sure any of the video sharing sites would make it that easy for you to cancel out the click-through totally, as it's not in their interest. Although I'm willing to believe it's possible (in case the next poster tells you how!)

      dom could you please email me the link to your tutorial to embed the player you suggested? thanks. the only reason i wanted to host the salespage in youtube is that ive been told that its easier to embed a youtube link than host a video separately, and i spoke to my hosting account today, and they said they would not do shared hosting ( ie for my salespage AND my video) and so im wondering where to host the separate video for the salespage..

    LOL youtube provides a easy disable option for the related videos. No need to mess with the code.

      Yes, Tonio is right, the YouTube Embed interface does allow you to switch off the Related Videos (you have to expand the details to see the option).

    This will prevent clickthroughs:

    Put this:
    <param name="allowNetworking" value="internal">
    before the <embed> tag

    Put this:
    allowNetworking="internal"
    after size

        OP is asking to disable click-thru on his video back to Youtube, not displaying related videos. If you disable related videos you can still click the embedded video and be brought back to Youtube.

        @OP - Don't be cheap. If it's one video and you won't get a huge amount of traffic, then host it yourself. Youtube is allowing you to host it for free and the minimal amount of traffic you may lose just isn't worth screwing with the system. I mean they can tell where videos are embedded so who knows if they also have a way to tell if you are screwing with the code.

        Further, if your video is good and compelling you won't have a thing to worry about anyway, because your buyers will sign up based on what you presented to them, they will not be so easily swayed to go video surfing if they found your offer solid enough.
