The $20 Challenge - You Can Win!

Howdy Fellow Warriors,

All too often, we see people asking about how to make money online. Personally, I think it's great that they want to explore it as an income stream.

This challenge is to share ways of making $20.

Yep.

Twenty bucks. That's all.

Why $20? Because it's a good round number - not too low, not too high. First, it's much more believeable to new people than $500 a day. Second, it seems to me like the smallest amount that people really value (if that makes sense).

My thinking is that a lot of people get stuck on thinking that it's too hard to earn big money and don't get started. OR... They see ideas that only pay a few cents and don't think it's worth the hassle.

The best part is that you can win $20 for offering the best suggestion.

I'd like to just leave this open, but I now some people insist on some "rules". I will try to keep them as simple as they are fair.

1. The challenge needs enough responses to make the prize worthwhile.

2. The criteria for choosing the winner will be how viable the method is. Ease of implementation, low start-up cost (if any), and quickness of earnings will help.

3. I'd like to keep this open for at least 20 days, but it may be sooner or later than that. If so, I'll give plenty of notice that it's about to end.

4. I'll send the winner $20 to their PayPal account (so you should have a PayPal account).

5. The "rules" may change, but if they do, it will be for the better (like adding a bigger prize, for example).

So...

What's your best way of earning $20?

All the best,
Michael

p.s. I really think we could help a lot of people out.

p.p.s. I know there are some other really good threads on making money online. The idea of The $20 Challenge is a bit more specific.

The quickest way to $20+ with a whopping $.89 investment.

Step 1. Do some quick market research.
    • Find a niche that has people buying things in it. Lots of things.
    • Find a few products that seems to be selling well (on clickbank or amazon or whatever) to enforce that people are spending money.

Step 2. Buy a good, keyword filled, domain name (buy a .info and you'll get it for $.89)
Check out this video that I made for how I accomplish that:

Step 3. Find a GREAT offer to promote.
Get an affiliate link for that offer.

Step 4. Redirect your domain name to that offer using your affiliate link
Use domain forwarding to redirect to your affiliate link.

Step 5. Write an EXCEPTIONAL article using highly searched keywords.
    • Not some crappy 250 article.
    • Write a GREAT ~500 word, well researched article that shines a new light on something having to do with your product.

Step 6. Promote the crap out of your article
    • Backlinking
    • Social bookmarking
    • Blog commenting using your article as a reference
    • Answer questions on answer sites like yahoo answers and use your article as a resource
    • write other articles and promote your articles within the new articles
    • etc.
Step 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 over and over until you have some money to expand.

      Michael,

Are you saying we have to live with this post on the front page for 20 days? That's worse than a "watch me" thread. :p

Here's an idea that doesn't need to be included in the contest, but I'll throw it out there, anyway.

Many times it is a limiting belief that stops people dead in their tracks. So this would be an exercise for the sole purpose of providing proof that you as a person can actually have some other person who you only engaged through the internet send you money.

      Here 'tis...

Find an object of some value you have hanging around and put it up on eBay or craigslist. Then sell it.

What this will do is allow you to practice your copywriting skills, some internet technical skills, as well, and make you move in a forward direction.

Once you have actually used the internet to bring money in from strangers you have only interacted with over the internet you will become a firm believer in the possibilities the internet holds for you.

It's a simple exercise, but many folks have never made even one single sale on the internet that brought them money. Completing this exercise will allow you to say to yourself "I have made money on the internet", and may be the stepping stone that will allow you to get past your fears, doubts, and procrastination.

Once you have made a little money online, keeping up your determination gets a lot easier.

I'm assuming this is for absolute newbies so that's who my suggestion is for.

Perform a service. Chances are there is something you can do that other people struggle with. You may be a good writer - offer writing services. Maybe you know how to install Wordpress and set it up - offer that.

Hey, anyone can set up accounts with social bookmarking sites and it doesn't take a genius to bookmark people's sites and posts for them.

No one is saying you have to do this service forever but it's sure one of the fastest ways to get some cash to fund your further endeavors. It's like working your way through school.

A popular and pretty simple way to earn $20 is to write 1-5 articles. Of course you have to know how to write and have somewhat of a grasp of how to speak English, but most of us can do that.

I say 1-5 articles because, some may be only able to get $4/article or if your quality is awesome and you find the right buyer, you could get $20 from 1 or 2 articles.

(If you writing is absolutely horrible and you barely speak English, just write 20 articles and sell them for $1 each. People buy cheap crap all the time and no one will read the articles, so you are all good - lol)

    Michael,

    Real simple!

I'd go look on Ebay to see what Public Domain products are being sold.

I'd then create a similar product but better (or cheaper if you are just looking to make $20)

Then I'd sell it on Ebay.

    Very very easy

I'd create a nice banner for someone for $20. There's always someone looking for graphics or web designers so making $20 is really easy for me...
I'd do some minor WordPress tweaks for $20...

I'd write some articles for $20... I'd do a couple of tasks for Reviewme.com and places like that for $20

Step 1: Do some research on a topic that gets a lot of attention. You can browse answer sites and (cough) forums to get a good idea of what people seem to be asking for over and over again. Keep these links for later use.

Step 2: Either find out the answer or get someone who knows the answer.

Step 3: Create a product around the answer you received. Do either writing, audio, video or a combination of all three.

Step 4: Package this as PLR content for resell.

Step 5: Sell it either on here, another forum marketplace, ebay, or on your own free site, (squidoo, hubpages, etc.). Sell it for $20. You can get one sale pretty easily on market places. Free sites take a little traffic generation.

Step 6: Traffic Generation (optional if not on a marketplace). Do some bookmarking sites, some traffic exchanges, or put samples of your content in article directories, video sites, etc. Shoot for traffic until you get a sale.

For credibility, show all the links and questions that people keep asking over and over again to show that there is a need for this info. You are all set!

Your time and knowledge is worth $20, no matter who you are.

Make a list of the resources you have -- websites, knowledge, skills, contacts, interests, anything like that. Whatever you can tap into for your business.

Then, look for common themes or things you can tie together. My list included writing, helping people, and traveling. Can you spot the idea? If you said travel writing, you're right. This is a basic example, but it can be extrapolated easily. If you like coding, offer your services as a coder. If you like management, be a middleman between outsourcers and clients. Etc, etc.

Some possible skills to offer are:
    --Article writing
    --Link building
    --Coding
    --Graphic designing
    --Script installations
    --Offline marketing
--Designing promotional materials (banners, flyers, etc)
    --Copywriting
    --Creating videos
    --Transcribing
    --Translating
--Mentoring/coaching if you're an expert in something
    --"Odd jobs"

The Warriors for Hire section is a great place to start. Use the list of interests you generated and the possible services you feel the strongest about offering, then create a thread there. It's worth a $20 investment. Offer several (5?) review copies to get testimonials, and concentrate on providing a high-quality service, going above and beyond expectations.

If you'd rather start for free, you can visit freelancing bidding sites, create a Blogspot portfolio, and apply for jobs that are listed on the freelance jobs sites and Craigslist. Once you earn money, save up for a Warriors for Hire thread, and your own domain name/website.

    Hope that helps someone.

-Flip futons (or other stuff) on Craigslist (with apologies to Jason Moffatt).
-Sell some of your stuff on eBay.
-Find a CB product with a payout of at least $20, learn how to write a good article, write a good article, submit it to EZA (keyword research is optional here: all you need is a sweet article with a sweet title to get you that quick sale)

Step one: Browse through forums to get an idea of what is being talked about the most.
Step two: Use the forum search function to find past threads that may answer the problem.
Step three: Compile a short list of words and descriptions that will be based off your past research.
    Step four: Write 10 - 15 sequential articles creating a short book/report
Step five: Create a sales letter
Step six: Go to your local buy/sell section of your forum and sell your new virtual book to your future prospects.

I actually wrote a book on how to do this.. lol

Search out a "freebies" forum such as "anything 4 free" and post in the 4 cash trade section. Offer to do someones "Trainn" site for $20 ( you could get 25 easily but the op stated just 20 ). Then pick one of the many offers you will get. Follow through by signing up to their site and completing one free trial offer. You will have your $20 within a few minutes with no cash being spent on your part.

Obviously this is not a good long term traditional internet marketing type of venture but its an easy way to get a quick $20 and i personally have participated in this "niche" a couple years ago and made over 15k cash plus about 5k in physical goods so it does work.

    Some great replies so far.

I'd like to mention that the ways to make $20 do not have to be geared toward new people only.

One more point...I see all of those other contest, too. For the best domain name, headline, etc. But those conteasts tend to only benefit one person. This contest will (hopefully) help a LOT of people.

Anyway, good stuff so far Warriors!

      1. Join a forum where people need services.
      2. Add a signature offering services.
      3. Start posting.
      4. Wait for the forum participants to spot your signature and contact you.
      5. Sell the service.

That's how I made my first $150 online in one day.

Just gotta pick the right forums.

Though I picked a tediously repetitive task and hated doing it so ensure you pick a task you'll enjoy doing so you can keep earning over and over again.

      Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Find some stuff you're not using sell it on ebay... This is by far the the easiest way to make 20.00

If you want to spend a few bucks, buy some stencils (numbers) and some black paint.

Walk in to areas where they have the address painted on the curb, look for houses that need repainting and walk up and say you can repaint the numbers right now for 5 bucks.

Find a new sub that has no numbers and bam 5 bucks 5 bucks 5 bucks...

Easy simple and people are willing to pay 5 bucks and only takes a few minutes to do.

  • Buy a generic tv episode site domain that links to sites that stream the appropriate episode according to each post.

    Sign up to CPALEAD.

Get a different youtube account for each episode series.

Get the free trial of tube tools. (automates 15 messages an hour for 24 hours)

Enough for youtube not to ban you or notice.

Make 15-30 different comments for Tube tools to post.

Examples of posting on a youtube episode trailer:

"Hey guys just watched this episode at familyguyonline.c0m and it was awesome.

But does anyone know where I could watch it in better quality?"

    Or

"I just watched this at familyguyonline.c0m but does anyone know where I could buy the box set for a low price"

We put a 0 or something else that doesn't flag up youtube spam filters as they don't allow domain posts.

Set up the CPA LEAD widget on your episode pages and watch hundreds of clicks come in.

Usually for every 400-700 unique views it produces 100-300 unique clicks and 10-40 leads which usually averages at around 20-35 dollars per day for one episode posting.

That is assuming you did the whole 15 posts per hour for 24 hours. (Yes this method still works and a few other marketers from CPALEAD use it for quick cash)

Best used just as an episode is released on the night.

You can find stream links from a site like:

    quickflicksnow.com or something like that.

That's an easy method I know and can be easily scaled up across accounts for each episode series.

    Jay.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2102148].message }}
  • Also this is done across 200+ different videos for the same episode or the same series atleast.

Also the 15-30 different comments are so you are not soo repetetive that youtube notices.

Obviously when people see you watched it from that site they will be curious and check it out themselves.

    Am I the last post?

Kidding aside - there are a lot of good career ideas here - but I am hoping my career is worth more than $20 This one is just for a quick buck

To make a quick $20, I would clean up someone's computer - about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes - Install and run Crap cleaner, do a root kit check with sophis, install Avast and Malwarebyts (sp?), get rid of the old registry entries, delete built up system restore files(sometimes they run into the gigs and really slow a computer down) and so on ...Then I hand them a faster, and secure computer - explain the software I installed for 5 - 10 minutes, and grab my twenty.

The easiest way to make money online is to sell your books and goods on Amazon. I have sold everything from a used heart rate monitor to a jump rope to books. Look around your house and gather what you no longer want. Almost anything Amazon lists you can sell there.

To make it double sweet there are no listing fees if your items does not sell. And because there is a description on Amazon already, listing is fast and easy.

Take this to the next level by visiting garage sales, library sales and picking up books to sell on Amazon.

Want your items to sell ultra fast with no hassle?

Sell your gadgets such as cell phones, computers, DVD's etc on Gazelle. Simply describe your items and if they are interested they will make you an immediate offer and pay you to ship it to them.

Got books ...Check out Cash4Books for immediate sale and free shipping.
