Quick question about Amazon Associates

Hi,

I reside in the UK and I am an Amazon associate. My affiliate links all link to pages from the UK site and are in pounds sterling (£).

Basically, can I still earn commission from US residents when they buy through me in £'s?

I've tried signing up with Amazon US but keep getting re-directed to the UK one.

If my buyers get re-directed to the US site from my UK links will I still earn the comission if they buy?

Thanks in Advance!

Russ.

    Hi Russ,

You will only get commission if U.S. buyers buy through your UK affiliate link, which is probably unlikely if they can get the same thing on Amazon.com

If they are re-directed to the Amazon.com site you would need to have an affiliate link with that programme for you to get paid.

You say that you've tried signing up for Amazon U.S. but keep being re-directed to the U.K. site. Have you tried this page?

    https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

That's the one I always use and I've never had a problem with it.

I know the question has already been answered but what I have found is one of the best things to do is host two versions of your site. Have the main page as an automatic instant redirect based on IP (I use this software: Geo IP redirect PHP script - php html redirect script - geo targeting - keyword redirection ) and have a subdomain for uk and another for us that way you can direct your traffic accordingly.

On your UK page put your UK affiliates link, CPA offers that work in the UK or other directed ads and the same applies for US users on the other one. This way you make full use of all of your traffic instead of picking and choosing and instead of making them figure out which ads are for them.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

Here's a plugin that looks kinda interesting, but I haven't really used it so I can't say for sure if it works or not.

WordPress › Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer WordPress Plugins

But from my understanding Google will redirect to your countries version of the Google searchengine when doing a search for say a specific product. However if it's generic info that's generating the traffic and you're listed in the .com it should work.

I've tried that plugin before and had minimal luck with it - no idea why but most of my traffic was just slotted as generic as they all came through google.com thats why I offered the other suggestion that checks the actual IP

That one looks interesting, is it for both WP and HTML sites? Forgot to mention that the other one was a plugin for WP sites only.
