Got advice for a new WF member?

Hi everyone Im new here, or rather I've been reading this forum for a while but just decided to finally sign up and start participating.

I've been doing IM for about 18 months and need some inspiration from you all. I will do my best to contribute to this forum as best I can.

I work a lot and have a limited amount of time, so have been using PPC to generate traffic to my affiliate sites. Currently I'm learning about life after Google AdWords (if you know what I mean) and my focus has turned to Yahoo and MSN. I'm a bit down on things right now and badly need some inspiration besides all the bogus sales pages out there.

Many people start as struggling marketers and may suddenly find that things kick in and they are succeeding. The ball gets rolling after you've not given up and persisted.

I am tired of spending so much of my spare time for only a few hundred dollars a month.

Here's my question for you:

Do you have any advice for someone who is making a few dollars here and there but badly wants to see something "click in" and see some killer profits roll in? Do you have a story to share?

Any inspiring stories or advice would be great.

Thanks and have a great day!

First thing first. NEVER start with PPC. EVER! PPC is for already seasoned marketers who fully understand internet marketing and ad copy.

My best advice would be for you to get the basic knowledge with steps A, B, C.... to follow and then, once you've got the steps good, just go and take action.

Find maybe a couple of hot niches to start and buit as many articles, blog posts, forum posts, press releases as your can "promoting" your niche or product.

Do this over and over, and it will pay off.

Welcome to the WF. I know exactly what you mean about Google's Adwords. No more affiliate review sites for PPC. I was making some good money till they shut me down.

I've started focusing on SEO and creating my own products instead of just selling other people's stuff. I don't think you'll really hit the "big time" until you have established yourself as an expert and sell your own products/content to your subscriber/customer base. That's the real ticket! (You can then use your exclusive product as incentives to sell your affiliate offers.)

SEO really isn't as big a mystery as most people think. It just takes a little more time and work but the traffic is free.

If you are looking for inspiration, I have a few pages of really good quotes in my free e-book: The Formula for Lasting Wealth

    Good luck in your business,

Free? Nothing is free. Yes once you get your desired rankings the traffic does not cost you, but getting there does take time and we all know that time=money. Not to mention if you have no clue how to go about a proper SEO campaign you can expect to pay thousands monthly for anyone who really knows what they 're doing.

I definitely agree that SEO is crucial to online success, but I would never say it is free.

I knew I should have qualified that statement after I posted that.

What I meant was that there is a monetary difference between SEO and PPC and that you don't have to pay money in dollars for your clicks from organic traffic. I didn't mean to say that the act of optimizing your website for organic search was free.

        Thanks for your point.

I figured as much, but I just wanted to clarify for someone just starting off. I have had more than my share of newbies come to me in confusion.

    Welcome Soundengine!

A good way to get traffic and conversions is by doing some product review blogs. You don't have to worry about PPC ads or anything like it. Just simply try some products and programs, research them completely and write an honest review. I have made some good cash by doing this. I work a full-time job, but I am able to do about 1-2 reviews a week.

Another good area is Niche marketing. Research your keywords and see what people are searching for. You will find more than one niche by doing that. Pick one and become an expert on it.

If you need help or tools to get you started let me know.

    To your success,

      1. Read Up on your topic of interest in the War Room.
      2. Get an Autoresponder (This is a must)
      3. Stay out of the IM niche (focus on non-IM niches)
      4. Learn WordPress and cPanel and FTP inside and out.
      5. Start implementing what you learn.
      6. Then test and tweak and learn from your mistakes.
      7. Best Hosting... Hostgator or HostMonster
      8. Best Registrar... Namecheap.
      9. Good WordPress Themes: iThemes, StudioPress, Thesis, WooThemes, ElegantThemes.
      10. Focus on site appearance that converts, more than "it looks good" appearance.
      11. Learn HTML so you know how to change adverts on your site and know how to add an optin form.
      12. Best for Last: Learn SEO inside and out, upside down and sideways, and drunk as a skunk. This includes everything from keyword research to niche research, to backlinks and anchor text to onsite page optimization. Learn it all as that will be the lifeblood of generating targeted leads that won't cost you a lot of money.

      Hope that helps.
