Vegas Vince had a good reply:

*Like it or not....the 7 Deadly Sins/Vices.....are the niches from which all niches come from.

1. Lust
2. Gluttony
3. Greed
4. Sloth
5 Wrath
6. Envy
7. Pride

What are your TOP 'desperate niches' suggestions?

You can see how desperate these people will be, and are willing to spend a little cash on products that will help them, even a forum PM, to these people will mostly convert if you put it friendly and recommend it.

So all you have to do mainly is research, see what they want. If you spent say about 30mins reading a niche related forum, and look to see and note down what there problems are, what they need, youll find a winner every time.

Now also once you have a customer and they get back to you saying thanks and you see that they purchased it take note of the buyer, email info, or even msn messenger info, because in a month i bet they would buy a similar product.

I think maybe the term which should be bantered about is a "hot prospect" (boy is that phrase from the old school) that is ready to make a buying or has made the buying decision.

Meaning, you the seller have the solution/product to their immediate decision; not that your being the straw that broke the camels back. If you are confident, in your product or your information, you should be able to lay your head down on your pillow and not miss a wink of sleep.
Exactly Ken, my initial post title says 'Desperate Buyers' which was meant to start a discussion on 'Hot Prospects', as you mention, people that are ready to buy... they have already been warmed up by some desperation, and are ready to purchase something that will hopefully provide a solution that will help fix their problem. - Like a teenager looking for an acne cure a few weeks before the prom...

I look forward to your ideas!

Hi Jared, Great list!.. I can see some of these will fit in nicely with some topics/niches that I already have sites based on. I am going to search out a couple of affiliate products for one or two subjects and test them out to see how they convert. This could prove very lucrative.

Thanks,

That's a nice looking list you have there.
A few more desperate buyers are people with:

- headaches
- backpain
- toothaches

We need to help these people!

Definitely a great list to start with. I think many more will come to the surface over the next little while but many of these will remain consistant for some time.

For a little something different.

Epic FAIL. (unless you were trying to make a very lame joke...) The topic was to make more money, by finding the top niches with desperate buyers. However, the comedy relief was a welcomed break...

* Women scared of husbands having affairs
* Parents with children needing legal help

Both of these are in my PI niche and trust me they convert very well and are ripe for repeat orders and upsells.

I've had several websites in desperate niches and I have to say, the keyword phrases that people sometimes use to find them are somewhat depressing, even if they are profitable.

A good (true) example is people who are searching for cluster migraine relief in the middle of the night. Great way to make a sale because of a desperate, motivated buyer but when you consider the people that you are selling to, it makes you want to really choose what you are promoting so that they get what they are looking for.

Here's a good tip:

justanswer.com

They have an affiliate program and they have doctors and lawyers, etc readily available to answer questions online. If you can get cheap-as-heck traffic, it can work quite nicely IMO.

This in general is a big insight in my book.

Think about it. A doctor goes to school for a hundred and fifty years, becomes specialized, keeps up to date on the latest cures/information/preventative measures, etc and YOU can easily leverage your IM talents to cash in on their credibility and experience. Nice huh?

Ahh, the power of leverage. If more marketers understood that power, more would be rich.

I mean, as a marketer I can make money almost as if I'm an attorney, doctor, carpenter, surgeon, cop, investigator, etc

Personally, I've made good money in the legal niche and some in the health niche. Someone with a child custody situation, or real estate situation -- well that's VERY emotional. And, people BUY on emotions. Man, that's another insight. Appeal to emotions in your copy and advertising.

Alright, since I'm on a roll here, here's another Louviere Insight:

If you use Google Adwords and run ads towards desperate people (who are staying up late at night worrying about something......) then set your ads to only run at night. Yep, you can do that.

Now, just make sure when you talk about me... you talk well.

lol

Eric
PS - there's other avenues out there besides justanswer.com too

I think weight loss is always a pretty desperate niche - especially if someone has an occasion coming up. Like lose weight in time for Christmas (so that you can fit into a sexy party dress), lose weight in time for summer (look great in your bikini) or lose weight in time for a wedding or other occasion.

You want to know what's a good niche,

try making a product in spanish, on the IM niche.

I'll sell like pancakes.

Too bad no one has stepped up to the plate and took that job.

and no one wants to partner up.

Just as with foreclosure, some other niches move inversely to the economy. When it gets really bad, they heat up. Such as:
*Job hunting / career change / resume
*How to sell your house
*debt consolidation
*stress management / relief

That's a great suggestion Eric. I have a few

Tim I couldn't agree more.

If you're going to sell to desperate people,
you better damn well know that what you're
selling is top notch.

I could rant on with the crap I see people

I think the best method to get rid of your cat is to use the same fullfillment/postal services that quite a few big name gurus seem to use for delivering their continuity magazines.

At least I seem to receive them after the 30 day free trial period has ended, and thus after the first monthly withdrawal from my bank account.

I don't think it's intended to be fast, neither when it comes to cats nor to magazines. When it comes to magazines, I think it may be intended to be cheap.

Hi Jared, Just wanted to let you know that you are
a genious. I went right away last night and found a
very simple affiliate product to promote that directly
related to one of your original list of hot topics.
Wrote some articles and put them up on some of my
Web 2.0 blogs, aggregated the RSS feeds, pinged them
and went to bed.
Awoke this am and I had a sale!!
You are the best,
Thanks a bunch.
Cheers,

GREAT post... and another one that I've done well with lately... "get your ex back" or "save your relationship" ... if anyone has ever had their heart broken.. they know just how true this is.... talk about "desperate buyers!"

I was hoping someone would mention cryogencis...

I liked that list- actually all of those can be turned around to a desperate buying list.

Sure there's a profit to be made off of the desperation and paranoia of others. And I can't condemn anyone who takes advantage of that. Cuz if they don't someone will. But personally, I prefer repeat customers. And if you deal in truly solving people's desperation and paranoina you shouldn't have repeat customers. So I'll leave these easy profits to the rest of you. It is a good list though. Just not my cup of tea.

Jared and all,
Just an update..

I have had several sales now for an affiliate product
related to one of the original list of desperate buyers.
Since I have been a member of that particular group
and found my own "cure", I am now going to develop
my own product and back-end and depending on the
response, a membership site.

I don't know why I didn't realize before that this
"desperate crowd" that I have been a part of is
such a responsive crowd. I should have since I have
"been there, done that".

Anyhoooo, If anyone else has had some success with
any of the topics on this thread, I sure would like to
hear about them.

Cheers,

I know! Let's send them all to Kevin, to deal with his hamster infestation. And the ones in the lab, too!

Nice list!

There are plenty of off shoots that can spring from the list too.

Like women who want their exes back.

And anybody who needs a good lawyer.
